Hello hello! Does anyone have any recs for products that help with minimizing pores? Mine are the size of small craters and this causes a lot of distress when I try to take selfies.

on baths and skincare! [18th Mar. 2017 • 10:40]

hey, my fellow dudes! so, due to equal parts bitter cold and sad panda-ing throughout the winter, i've really gotten into baths right now as my ritual of self-care. and whereas before, i felt gross about it because Why Sit Around In Your Body Stews, now i'm really feeling positive about it – i can lean back, watch some seeso on my ipad while i get clean, drink a beverage that may or may not be alcoholic depending on my mood, and it gets me all cozy around the bod before sinking into dreamland. bonus: i can wear masks during the first part of just soaking and having my muscles relax, and it's just good stuff. (guys: do you have any recs for a drugstore exfoliating mask that's good? like, i'd love to say that i'm okay for getting something a lil more ulta or sephora-y, but not in the budget right now.)

so, my question for you guys: what's your favorite bath or shower-time products? i've been falling in love with anything dr. teal's lately; specifically, their pink himalayan bubble bath has been my HUGE JAM. there's also these bath truffles sold at my local coop that dissolve into these amazing oils, which kinda got me into the entire bath thing in the first place. ironically, when i was living in minneapolis and near a lush, i hated the idea of a bath – but then again, i was also sharing a bathroom with two other people and the tub was gross, so lmao of course i wasn't about that life. ulta has been shilling these faux bath bombs, but i'm really nervous about anything that might make my skin angry – such is life when you have super sensitive skin and it's getting used to a much drier climate. #yikes

i've also been chasing after a good body wash – dr. bronner's seems to be the ticket, although i've been anxious to shell out $15 for it. (I KNOW. I KNOW!! BEING CHEAP IS REAL.) i think i'm gonna go ahead and do it, though, so if anyone has any scent recommendations, i'm here for 'em. lotion after your bath is also REAL LIFE, and i'm really partial to the vaguely shea butter-y ones – st. ives's has been crushing it for me lately! before i moved, i finally finished my body shop super-duper thick shea butter one, #restinpeace. it would've been so good for this weird itchy patch/rash i had on my ribs this winter!! (from – YOU GUESSED IT – a bubble bath dude i tried that wasn't nice!!)

anyway idk, let's talk about how baths/showers make us nice in the comments?? IF YOU WANT TO, i'm not your mom. and let me know if you want any DIY bath stuff too – one of my favorite books in the whoooole world has an entire section devoted to how baths can make you beautiful all over, and i love it! weirdly, it's on the top shelf of my bookshelf right now and i regret this hugely. but yes. skin! body care! bath time! shower shit! all that jazz, let's talk it out!

Eye Creams [2nd Sep. 2016 • 13:18]

I've got my general skin routine figured out but I haven't yet waded into the world of eye creams. According to all the beauty sites, this means I'm in danger of my eyeballs falling out of my face or something.

Anyway, do y'all have any recommendations for eye creams? Or any other eye skin related tips or tricks?

skin care help! [7th Aug. 2016 • 23:42]

Hi! Cat here. I'll get straight to the point: I need skin care advice. Since I was about eighteen, I've had bad reactions to well known moisturizer/scrubs brands (Neutrogena, St. Ives, Cetaphil, & Aveeno). Typically, a bad reaction doesn't happen immediately, but when it does...ugh. Burning, itchy sensation, and, if I don't wash it off quickly, redness and scaly skin. Weirdly enough, it only happens with skin care products--eye make up and powder foundation don't do anything.

So...does anyone else on here have this problem, and if you do, how did you solve it? I know skin care is important, but I'm not really sure what to use at this point. :\

LUSH LUSH LUSH LUSH LUSH LUSH LUSH [5th Jan. 2016 • 19:38]

I went to LUSH today and got ALL THE THINGS:
  • Ceridwen's Cauldron bath melt
  • Sea Vegetable soap
  • Bohemian soap
  • Sandstone soap
  • Honey I Washed My Hair shampoo bar
  • Mask of Magnaminty face mask
  • Cup o' Coffee face mask
Buuuut I was wondering if any of you guys have visited your LUSH stores/shopped online recently and noticed that a lot of their products are gone now?? I really wanted to get Ice Blue and they had none of it (and were trying to tell me that Sea Vegetable is a gr8 replacement product for it which made me LOL in the girl's face), and their shelves were surprisingly bare. And no Dirty!

hello beautiful tyf friends! i feel like there's a post on this on the comm already, but i can't find it, SO! give me your sunscreen recs. specifically those that you've found are effective under make-up!

my skin is combo-oily and can break out if i put anything too greasy/heavy on it, but i'm open to any suggestions. i've been relying on the SPF in my bb cream (smashbox camera ready) and moisturizer (boots no. 7 protect and perfect day cream), but idk, i guess i'm getting increasingly paranoid about sun damage?? you would think this would happen sometime before i was leaving this barren desert wasteland, but here we are. NEVER TOO LATE TO START.

i'm also looking for recs of any kind for acne scarring. while it's not horrific, i do have some marks on my cheeks and they're only getting more obvious as i get older. how do you guys deal with scarring, if you have it??

hi! ok so not only am i forgetful when it comes to moisturizing my face. i basc use whatever product my mom has bought for me, so if it's sitting by the sink and says moisturizer i figure better some than none. i've tried a lot of different brands over the years and i don't remember anything about which one was best for me. :( BUT i want to start looking for stuff that is actually for me & my skin esp as my current cream is running out.

so i have combination skin and i am not in need of age-defying type products, so those recs would be particularly helpful, but ofc feel free to throw out your other faves in case it can help someone else. is there a difference between night and day creams? do people use both? do i need both??? teach me, my friends.

i recently ordered a bunch of stuff on recommendation of a few friends & boredom, so here's my haul. mostly asian beauty products (seriously, i made the switch a few months ago & my skin has never been clearer/prettier!!! plus super-soft, super-moisturized, i have a somewhat even skin tone and no gross flakes on my forehead and in between my eyebrows for the first time ever? WOW, i will probably make a post detailing my regime in pursuit of Perfect Skin especially because i have sensitive skin so i have had a lot of mishaps [looking at you, black soap that burned my cheeks off]) & some other things, but i don't know. maybe someone has some input here.

cut for big pictures. )

super excited to use these, negl.

i've also been looking at etsy as a new place to buy cosmetics too! do you guys have any favorite etsy shops i should definitely check out? or "indie" cosmetics/skincare shops in general, ha ha ha, i really just typed that.

I've been itching to make a post like this ever since I saw one on Jezebel. So, what I wanna know is: what are your favorite grooming products? Whether it's for your face, your body, your nails, or your hair, what are your vanity drawer's most valuable players? Anything from high-end cosmetics to homemade concoctions to creative usages of old standbys fair game. If it really, really works — and you'd never dare to go on vacation without it — I wanna know what it is.

Please fill out the following (and feel free to leave some lines blank if it's not applicable or you're not sure):
What is it?
How much does it cost? How long does it last you?
Why do you love it?
Who would you recommend it to?

Y'all had such useful things to say about bras, and I've been meaning to ask for a while, so... What the hell.

Does anyone have any good tips/products for getting rid of blackheads? After a long adolescence of terrible skin, I've finally gotten cleared up... Except for the blackheads on my nose. You can't really see them, but I know. I know. I've tried scrubs, diy treatments, and pore strips to no avail.

Currently I cleanse with Burt's Bees Soap Bark and Camomile Cleanser or Shea Terra Rose Hips and Black Soap Cleanser a few times a week and moisturize with Lush Enzymion. Help a sister out, beauty experts D:

HELLO EVERYONE THIS IS MY FIRST POST. Predictably it will be mostly be about Asian skin products.

I've been using Clean & Clear Deep Action Cleanser for my face and it didn't really work out well. I also tried the Face Shop's Toner and moisturiser but I don't think it made much of a difference either. Worst of all, they were pretty expensive :|

(Sidenote: I've been using Murad's Skin Perfecting Primer and it's also really good and lasts long throughout the day. It's too bad it's so freaking expensive for such a small bottle)

SO I DECIDED TO CHANGE TO SKINFOOD!

THEY HAVE THE CUTEST PACKAGING ;_; )

So I'm still curious as to what natural stuff people use. Also, I dunno how accurate the links I'm linking to are.

I have combination skin. My diet and sleep cycle have been horrid, so I find it hard to tell what works and what doesn't. I haven't experienced one of those magical "WHOA EVERYTHING WAS GONE THE NEXT DAY!!" things I've read when I looked over some reviews, though. I want to try jojoba oil next, but I dunno how that'll work out.

Anyway, I have tried adding baking soda to Cetaphil, and then I use a 1:4 apple cider vinegar to water toner after that. I like the first part; it leaves my skin feeling really soft, and I use that Olay ProX brush with it. I dunno if that counts as "natural". I hate the second's smell. But my friend said something about acid-base, so I do it. I'm slightly skeptical about it really balancing it out, and I just want to blot my face with pH paper afterwards, though. I've also tried applying apple cider vinegar directly onto some spots, like I heard someone else suggest, but it didn't work that well for me.

I've been using witch hazel as a toner. I generally like it, but it has been drying my face out, too (obviously). I THINK it's better for me than some other store-bought stuff, though.

I also use a rose water spray. I like it a lot, and it sometimes leaves my face feeling really soft.

So what do you use, and how has it worked out for you?

Do you guys have any recommendations for a nighttime lotion/cream for your face? I use Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion right now (for everything), but just wondering if there is anything better than that.

Thank you!

P.S. This community is awesome. *_*

Two quick questions.

1) I am a big fan of using all natural stuff in my daily/weekly/whatever routine as much as possible - I would be lost without honey, egg, olive oil and white vinegar - and was wondering if anyone else would be down to exchange some ideas/tips re: that? Idk if there'd be that much interest since it seems a lot of you use store bought products (no hate, just stating), but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask!

2) Similarly, would there be any interest in some sort of body modification tag? Not tattoo pics or anything (unless you feel the need to share!), but basically after rambling last night to a friend over what information I have regarding stretching ears... Totally realized that exchanging information about piercing/tattoo/stretching/whatever care could potentially fit in perfectly here. Also as I'm no longer piercing have nothing against going ridiculously in-depth on any information I do have on any of the subjects pertinent to my past training to anyone even slightly interested haha.

Guys I have the DRIEST SKIN.

My roomie/cousin claimes that I have scabies because my legs look so bad in the winter. I sometimes do the petroleum jelly trick (put it on and then wear/pants socks over it and it helps I KNOW THAT SOME PPL SAY NOT TO DO IT BUT IT WORKS AMAZING) but I have three pair of sleep pants and you pretty much have to wash your pants after that because they wind up being a hot mess. I also have an extremely dry face to the point that most mousterizers basically do nothing (also I have the compounded issue of having EXTREMELY sensitive skin and I can't use a lot of lotions and stuff).

Also I shower twice a day (although I rarely use soap, I just 'rinse' and wash my hair because otherwise I feel straight nasty when I wake up and then I work at a coffee shop so um if I don't wash my body off after that I smell super bad at my other job).

So please rec me some of your favorites to help your skin stay not so dry. Also I am on a budget, so please rec me things that are on the less expensive side.
