You DID.NOT.DISAPPOINTMENT.

So I logged on and looked at my flist for the first time in several weeks. As you can imagine it was a bit overwhelming so if there is a post you think I should see, please link me to it so I don't miss it. How is everyone? I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving.

Meredith Baxter is gay. A blurb from the post on ONTD: Her son Peter’s reaction, like that of his siblings, was both reassuring and supportive. "I just couldn't stop smiling," says Peter, 25, "because she finally figured it out." Read the article here.

I love this article for many reasons, the main ones: 1) She says she didn't questioning her sexuality before her second same-sex relationship and 2) her son seemed to know she was a lesbian before she did. I find the latter an amusing twist of the 'parents usually know before the kid,' like Debbie in QAF. But it's the former that really grabbed me- the lack of her questioning. I have this notion that people either know they are gay or at least question and suspect it. But to just be living your life and not quite being able to make your life fit your true self... The implications of this kind of stagger me- that (some) people can't know how to make themselves complete. I find this idea sad.

Of course we can't ignore what she said about her first lesbian relationship:

Thirteen years ago I had a short-term affair with somebody — a woman — who I just cared for tremendously as a person, [I] was not really attracted to her, but the best way to describe it, [a romance] seemed like the next natural step in our relationship just because I cared about her a lot. Not once — it’s probably hard to imagine — but not once did it occur to me that I was a lesbian. Not once. I just thought, OK, I don’t think so, and went off and got married again for a short period of time...

She later said that she realized she was gay as an "A-ha!" epiphany moment. Like this first relationship didn't clue her in? I don't really have anything relevant to say, I just find it interesting to read about her experience.

I love that she came out. As she said, people who have family or friends who are gay are more open-minded about it. She can serve as a "friend" for those who don't know any gay people. More than advocacy, being a role model, etc, I think this is the most important role for famous people. JMO.

You'd think, at my advanced age, that I'd know that grouping doctor appointments all in one day is not always a good idea.

You'd think that, right?

I probably won't post the anonymous icon voting for a couple of days so GET TO IT. :D

Just under the wire....here are my totally uninspired icons for this months theme over at qaf_icons. I seem to have lost my icon groove and it doesn't seem like it'll return any time soon. I had actually picked out close to 50 scenes I wanted to iconize and ended up with only 16 completed. Two months, 16 icons....yeah, not good.

It's like I forgot how to multi-task. LOL

I'm rushing around trying to get ready for my vacation (I leave on Sunday). Eventually, I'll be at this fabulous spa for a few days before heading to my sister's.

I CANNOT WAIT.

However, before I can go, I have so much to do. All the presents have to be wrapped and packed for them for xmas and my nephew's first birthday. I have to get the pet sitter in here so I can show her what she needs to do with Champ.

I have to finish laundry, pack, finish decorating the house for the holidays (so it's all done when I get home) and somewhere in all that, I MUST get my hair done. Oh and did I mention that I have to work too?

So, instead of focusing on all of this, I ordered myself a bday present, the BLACKBERRY CURVE 8330 and I got it in red...to match my car. ROFL. I'm just kidding, it was either that or orange and since I'm a diva, I went with red.

WOOHOO my enhanced license came so I can easily cross the border into Canada and back, so it's official, I've got all I need for the trip.

“It would have been, but Australians know nothing about Thanksgiving, and care even less. Besides, it’s too damn hot here for turkey.”

“Poor Justin. Suffering for your art.”

I snort. “Shut up. I know I shouldn’t complain; the weather's great and I’ve sold three pieces already. I just wish I was there.”

“No worries, mate!” Brian says in a god-awful Australian accent. “I’ll stuff your turkey when you get back.”

I laugh. “Maybe I’ll stuff yours too.”

He lowers his voice. “Well, there’s something to be thankful for.”

The lovely and amazing fansee posted a wonderful fic from the equally amazing chering This fic is the definition of a "must read". It is little conversations full of teh love that were omitted from the show-it reads like it was originally there and was simply edited out.

So go now and READ IT!

I am happy to be home from our Thanksgiving visit to the in-laws and ready to jump back into making Gift Exchange goodies while I do ignore the laundry. Wheeeee.

I've been crazy busy this weekend with all kinds of family stuff but I kept sneaking away and checking in on fandom on my phone. Looks like lots of good stuff has been going on and hopefully I'll have time to catch up this week. I'm especially happy to see all the drabbles!

I've been waiting to find out the release date of my first original fic at Torquere Press and I finally got the email today. July 21st 2010... I was expecting it to be sometime after the first of the year but I was shocked that I will have to wait that long.

His parents got into a HUGE fight with me just this morning.My Brian threatened to tear out his new balls and my Justin said he would cut off their wireless connection if their ass!baby would still be just an ass!baby (with no real name) by Sunday evening!

Pfft!!!Who do they think they are!They should just be happy to belong to ME!!!Hubby has a laptop too and it- YES,it's simply an it,not male,not female,no name,JUST AN IT!!!- has to lead a very lonely life.No-one talks to IT (or yells at it lol) on a regular basis,no-one has EVER used it for pretty graphics and stuff.It doesn't has a wallpaper with two hot guys in it,nor does it have a wireless connection with anyone...*sobs*..That poor thing!!

Really really did not like "Coco Before Chanel." Audrey Tautou is gorgeous and I could have looked at her all day, but I found her character's motivations unfathomable, and I had no sense at all where Chanel's great talent and style came from, nor was there any sense of the force in design she would one day become.

This was nothing but an overblown romance that somehow reduced everything she did to being about some guy. Nauseating. I HATED it.

Beautiful, yes. But blech.

I wish someone would make the Chanel film that is in my head. Because this is DEFINITELY not it.

The Insane Userpics I bought don't 'show up.' How long takes it normally to receive them after paying? Anyone knows this?

At the end of the shittiest of weeks (at least from Wednesday on) this gift means more to me than you can imagine.

I was thinking what I could give back to fandom, and the only thing I came up with is icons.
So, if there is a scene you always wanted to have iconized or a text icon or animation you always craved, comment on this post and I'll make them over the weekend.

I can't handle the crowds on Black Friday, and besides, my holiday shopping, such as it is, is done. (We're buying for the kids only this year, due to the financial problems of one of my brothers).

So my sisters in law and I are going to see "Coco Before Chanel," while my brothers and their sons do their manly, boy-ly thing without us. And then this evening, not_yet_defined is doing a marathon of 101-102 and 512-513 over at qaf_marathons, so that's what I'll be doing when I get home!
