Who: Abigail and Katherine
Where: The forest
What: Another call for help.
Warnings: Violence.
Open: To Loki or Hannibal, otherwise closed.

Abigail couldn't take it anymore. Sitting around, waiting for those things to kill more people and find a way into the basement to kill them. It was far worse than waiting around for someone to find Nick Boyle's body. And even then, she'd only lasted a few days before she went to dig up the body herself. Papa should have known how crazy the waiting would make her. He couldn't be disappointed or angry if she just went out there to look around, kill anything close to the house and maybe grab some more medical supplies for Sookie. She might even be back before he noticed she was gone. She'd escaped from the hospital back home enough times to know how to run away unseen.

Abigail crept upstairs quietly, armed herself with her rifle and as much ammo as she could carry, then left the house. The hospital wasn't far; it didn't take her long to make her way inside. She went to the post-op icu and began grabbing anything that looked like it could be useful for Sookie's care. She filled her backpack and went back outside, only to find her route home blocked by those things. She realized she couldn't kill all of them before they killed her, and she ran.

Abigail kept running until she was deep in the forest. And then was faced with a familiar problem - who to call for help. If she called Papa, he might try to find her and be killed. Jake was probably fighting those things; she didn't want to distract him. The other Sullys had enough family to look out for already. She glanced her phone and sent a quick message to Kat with her coordinates and asking where the nearest safe place was. Kat would know what to do. Or at least she hoped she would.

Like Abigail it was hard for Katherine to sit around. Warriors went in and out of the cottage. They came home for the night or a quick meal. The first two people were lost and even Sif had gotten hurt. Thor and her father were out there and she was sitting in the bunker being useless. She wished she could be of some help.

The buzz of her phone almost gave her a heart attack. Messages in a time like this almost always meant trouble. She quickly scanned it, grabbed her gun and the halberd and appeared next to Abigail. "Hey, are you okay?" she asked with a concerned voice.

Abigail stood with her back to one of the large forest trees, her rifle aimed in the direction that she had come from. She expected to see those things again, at any minute. She blinked when Kat appeared and spoke to her. "Okay...yeah, I'm okay." She replied. Her arm was bleeding, but she hadn't noticed it. She had too much adrenaline running through her to realize it. "I didn't mean for you to come. I just...I wanted to do something. I screwed up."

The young frost giant looked around, scanning for any possible danger. How could you not when you knew you were in a forest full of monsters? Then she returned her attention to her friend. "It's..." Katherine started when she noticed the gash in Abigail's arm. "Uhm, Abigail, you are bleeding. We should get that bandaged. I think." She was far from being a medical expert but that did not look like something you should ignore.

"I am?" Abigail lowered her rifle and leaned it against the tree, then looked at her arm. "Oh, I am." She rolled up her sleeve slowly, trying not to make it worse and touched the wound. "It's not too deep. I don't think I was shot. Something might have fallen on it or I ran into something." It could have been a sharp branch, she thought. There wasn't time for her to be embarrassed as she heard those alien things approaching. Of course they would come as soon as she had put her gun down. "They're coming!"

Katherine's eyes widened at Abigail's words. She could hear the sound. God, how she wished that it would be her uncle bursting through the trees. She felt horribly underprepared. Her first instinct was to call her father. He had enough to do and he was exhausting his abilities. She glanced around, looked for something that could help them. She knew this place. They had had summer parties not too far from here when she had been young. But she couldn't think of anything. The cove that was a little bit up the fill could turn out to be death trap for Abigail. "Do you know if they can climb?" she asked. Trees were all that she could find.

Abigail shook her head. "I don't know. I don't know enough." She could hear Papa's voice, telling her that she was too impulsive and she should have been prepared. She was very close to panicking as she looked all around. "You..you should go. You shouldn't be here when they get here."

"Don't be foolish. I'm not leaving you," she said with a shaky voice. She had fought in the Danger Room. She had loved testing her powers. This was just like it, right? With a click of a button, she turned her weapon from a stick into a spear. She concentrated on the ice inside of her, summoning its strength and power. Her skin turned a light shade of blue while her eyes turned amber. "We can do this." She wasn't sure whether she was reassuring herself or Abigail.

Abigail wasn't sure of what to think of Kat's change. On anyone else, she'd be calling a doctor. With Kat, she hoped it was a good sign. She didn't have her friend's confidence, as she picked up her gun and aimed it. "Yeah. We'll give them a hell of a fight." She said, taking aim at the first husk she saw and shooting it between the eyes.

Before Katherine attacked, she did what she was drilled to do: press the three buttons on her phone which could save her life. She dropped the phone back into her pocket. Help would come. It wouldn't take long. They just had to survive for a bit.

The husks started to close in on them. Noises didn't only come from one direction anymore. There were quick people here. They would come. She quirked an impressed eyebrow when she saw a bullet ripping through one of their enemies' skulls. She spotted one to the right, teleported into its back and pierced it with the spear. She twirled around, sending a wave of ice into the direction of two others. It was still a messy one, not nearly as precise as she would have liked but she was getting there.

Abigail kept shooting. She had been trained by her father to only take kill shots, back then, it was to keep the animal from suffering. Now, it helped to make sure no bullet was wasted. But it was also a hindrance. The time it took to line up each shot perfectly, cost valuable seconds and those things were getting closer. She began to step backwards as two of them got very close. She managed to kill one of them, but the other reached out for her and she screamed out. "No!"

Katherine's head snapped around. The one that had grabbed Abigail looked a little different. Red seemed to erupt from its core instead of blue. She didn't have to think. She simple teleported next to Abigail, grabbed the beast by its throat and dragged it to the ground a few meters away. She lacked the finesse but she certainly had the raw strength. The beast started to tackle her. "Abigail, you need to head that way," she said, pointing east as she shortly freed her hand. Then she let it the ice form a somewhat crude dagger around her hand and arm and stabbed it into the monster. It exploded and she got flung to the side. She groaned in pain but she couldn't dwell on it. A bigger beast - with claws and plates - approached alongside a couple of smaller ones. Fuck.

Abigail started running east and stopped when she heard the explosion. She stood in place, turning to look back at Katherine. She couldn't just leave her there. Abigail raised her rifle and looked through the scope, shooting at the largest one and hoping it was one that could be stopped by gunfire. "Hey, hey, you. Over here." She called out, hoping to get the smaller ones' attention.

Kat heard the gunfire and her friend's voice. [Foolish girl!] Didn't she realize that Kat could get away whenever she wanted? But Katherine's short flare of anger was quickly quenched when she noticed that one of the rifle shots had loosened a part of the armour.

She stumbled to her feet, still shaken from the explosion. She reclaimed her icey dagger and launched an attack, sending a wave of ice towards it. It froze it to the spot but it seemed less than impressed, reclaiming its freedom after a second. "The small ones, Abigail. I take the big guy." She took a jump on it, counting on Abigail to keep her back free, suddenly very grateful that the other girl had stayed. She launched eager to hit the exposed flesh. The thing ripped her from the air with its claw, stabbing her left shoulder and sending a blinding pain through her body. She was flung to the ground, a scream escaping from her lips.

Abigail felt calmer when Katherine got up and spoke. She held her rifle steady and began shooting off the smaller ones. It actually felt good, she could see her father's face on every one of the nasty things. And feel a sense of revenge for Sookie and everyone else hurt by one of those things.

Abigail's momentary thrill faded when she heard the scream and saw her friend on the ground again. Firing at the bigger one this time, she managed to knock off the loosened armor and then pulled out her knife. The one Papa had given her; it was sharper than even her hunting knives. She ran at full speed at the bigger one and stabbed it as deeply as she could, then pulled her knife up, wanting to gut it for what it had done to Kat. She must have severed some of its electrical parts, because she actually felt the electricity running through her, her hands felt like they were burning and the rest of her body was shaking from the shock. More importantly, the creature wasn't trying to kill her. She managed to stand her ground and looked in the creature's eyes. "I got you." She stammered out.

The thing had almost been as strong as her uncle, the force of the throw still shook her body. The side she landed on tried to triumph the stab in her shoulder in run for the most agonizing pain. "Thanks," she pressed through her teeth as she slowly and steadily got back to her feet. "I think you -" The beasts were still circling in on them. She teleported to the next one, rammed the spear into its hard and teleported back. "Uhm, right, run. I'll give you a couple of minutes, then I teleport to the cottage. I'll be fine. I can vanish." Handling the spear with one hand wasn't right and her left arm was less than useless, hanging at her side like a scarf hung around her neck.

Abigail felt sick. Her hands hurt and her chest felt strange. She convinced herself it was just nerves as she yanked her knife out of the creature and watched it fall to the ground.

Abigail glanced over at Katherine while backing up, trying to put enough space between herself and the creatures to start shooting again. She might not have her Papa's medical skills, but she knew that arm looked bad. "You'll be fine? You're not fine now!" She yelled over the sound of the things. "Point me to the cottage if you can point. And then teleport right away!"

"It's the way I sent you just now..." Kat said. "Run, okay?" Her eyes did not leave the enemies. She was running out of energy, feeling a bit dizzy and the pain in her body was numbing her mind. "I'll knock a few more out and then I am off." With that she send a frost wave to the closest enemy which got rooted to the spot.

Abigail glanced back in that direction. It was still clear enough to make a break for it. "Only a few." Abigail repeated, emphasising the only. She had hoped Kat would start to heal quickly, like some of the people on the island could do, but her arm still looked like hell. She didn't want Katherine to end up looking like Monty Pythons' black knight. When this was over, she'd have to ask Kat what she could and couldn't do.

"I expect you to meet me at the cottage." She added and began to run.
