Katherine's eyes widened at Abigail's words. She could hear the sound. God, how she wished that it would be her uncle bursting through the trees. She felt horribly underprepared. Her first instinct was to call her father. He had enough to do and he was exhausting his abilities. She glanced around, looked for something that could help them. She knew this place. They had had summer parties not too far from here when she had been young. But she couldn't think of anything. The cove that was a little bit up the fill could turn out to be death trap for Abigail.
