Happy Daft Day, [info]ravenna_c_tan!

Title: The Cinnabar Sling, a story from Not Groom Lake
Author: [info]dingochow
Rating: NC-17 (very)
Warnings: Let's see: AU. Masturbation. Dirty talk. Wall!sex, library!sex, pickup truck!sex, outdoor!sex. Voyeurism. Very mild bondage. Just rather pervy all around. (Also, some attempts at humor.)
Prompt/Summary: ravenna_c_tan wanted a story with a mature, confident Harry, angst along the road to a happy ending, intensity in the smut, and Snape's POV. She also thinks AUs are fun!(so do I …)
Author's Note: Happy New Year, ravenna! Thank you so much for the prompt. This story kind of took on a life of its own, and I don't think that would have happened if I hadn't tried a Snape POV for the first time. I hope you enjoy the results.
Many thanks to my faithful beta, X, who suggested several of the more rational plot points.

Dear God that was hot, and absolutely hilarious! *g*
I loved the language, Snape's inner thoughts were prefect, and exuberant!Harry made me smile all the way through.
Wonderful morning pick me up. Thank you!

Thank you! I've been so worried whether anyone would like this, since the AU is sort of over the top. I love stories that are both hot and funny, and that's what I was trying to write here.

It was Snape who did it. Once I started writing his POV he sort of took over the story.

Thanks again.
Ding

This was funny, hot, interesting-I loved their life there at Not Groom Lake. Both Snape and Harry were very IC to me.

I liked this in so many ways, but I think what was best was the unapologetic AU-ness of it all. The lovely, lightly sketched political, magical, and bureaucratic structure of NGL, and how YOU knew how it all worked, but didn't much seem to need to explain to all of US. That just made it work all the better, made us all feel that much more clever for 'getting it' when we got it. Like a nod from the Potion's Master before he handed back the essay with a P instead of a T for once.

That, above the lovely story and fun smut, was the best treat of all.

Yay for AU!

Even though it's a bit of a sidenote, I really did love Remus and Sirius being the ones that raised Harry.

I also really liked the addition of the magical creatures and fauna. Very creative.

Hey, this is fantastic! I'm not all that keen on AU fics, but the way you introduce the Spider, and The American Facility that is not at Groom Lake, and then Harry Hartsfield, pulled me in. And of course, the story seems to become less and less AU as we go.

I like your description of the Spider, and the things he likes and dislikes. That sets the tone for the rest of the story, and we're off!

I like the strange magic artifacts you introduce into the story, and the way they're dealt with.

I like the hot sex that Harry and Spider indulge in, and the way Spider is somehow manoeuvered into doing things that are ... beyond inappropriate ... unacceptable ... unconscionable and unbelievable but obviously, oh so gooood. :D

An intriguing ending too, with the two birds swooping in the sky, giving Harry the perfect chance to put his point across, and then the interruption of the rogue magic. Wonderful!

This is a remarkable story, one that I really enjoyed. I'll be reccing it on my journal here, and at LJ.

Here via [info]gaycrow's rec. What a great story! I had been looking for your stuff to get some sense of what you liked for the Snupin Santa thing, but I think this is the first thing I've seen. (I don't know yet what you wrote for Snupin Santa.) I loved the magic here, it's very clever, and the Snape characterization is a lot of fun. You managed to do an AU Harry who is just as brave and impulsive as canon Harry, only happier, because not raised by the Dursleys--excellent.

This is all kinds of hot and hilarious. I loved Snape and Harry's behavior and the dialogue was great. "I would have finished you off. It was you who ran away from the flying dictionary." I loved that line, lol. Grand work!!~Sophia

This was a absolute treasure! I catch tell you how much I loved this fic, it is going in my favorites folder to be read over and over.

Funny thing, I was trying to locate area 51 last week on google earth and the only way I could get close was to locate Grooms lake. Now a fic about it I have always been fascinated by that place.

Mystery Train? I don't suppose you are a Dean Koontz fan perhaps ;) One of my favorite novels of his mentions the Mystery Train

My favorite line
"If I had a piece of dead monster, I'd give it to you." Spider didn't reply, but he dropped his own arm to fall, seemingly carelessly, around the boy's shoulder.

That was just priceless! Needless to say this story pushed all the right buttons for me. Thank you so much.

Hugs
Dixiebell

This is wonderful, funny, & (a little) sad & so so HOT!
Brilliant!
I love your snarky misanthropic Snape (I can't blame Harry for wanting this difficult complicated man) & bouncy Harry is rather cute!
One of those (rare) engaging stories where you almost forget to breathe, and the coffee gets cold in the mug because you forget to drink it - utterly enthralling.
And all those weird & wonderful & truly bizarre monster/creatures! And I enjoyed the Snape/Harry interaction, particularly at the beginning when Snape was trying to drive him away while desperately wanting to be close.
Wonderful!

This was fantastic! A witty, playful, sexy, and delightfully funny adventure. I love how the Spider and his new environment is introduced. Th imagery of him gathering intelligence in his web is awesome, a perfect job for the control freak post war. I particularly loved his voice. Harry is darling. Lots of love for this story, its just so much fun!

Seriously this is your second fic ever? Holy shit I bow down to your considerable awesomeness.

You have Snape's voice so well in this I love it. You also had great with Harry's confidence so brilliant. I also have this think where in Snarry fics I like to reference Harry's very godfather and his very gay boyfriend and when you did this I loved it. Plus it was so funny. Nice work.

This was great! I liked Snape and his inner thoughts but I absolutely loved Harry in this. Loved the angst over the infidelity component too. The sex scenes were delicious. You were creative with the magic here too: the spells, the creatures, and the books. Great job!

Ohmyholyfuckinggodthatwasamazing.

I was in love with it right from the opening paragraphs, which were stylishly done, and then the whole introduction of Snape as Spider, as an Elder Geek of some repute... love, love, love. Then I was drawn in by the gradual revelation that this AU has a direct relationship to the actual HP universe--oh, so intriguing! I was IM'ing a friend at the first "incendio" to say: "I. Love. This. Story."

I IM'ed her again when I got to the twist about Sirius and Remus being the godfathers. This is a bona fide Snarry classic as far as I'm concerned.

The sex was meltingly hot, the isolated and emotionally stunted Snape is perfect, and I just... yeah. Off to write recs for it in my LJ, IJ, GJ, JF, and whevever else I can think of...!

Absolutely scrummy. Got here because of [info]ravenna_c_tan's rec on lj. I probably would have got to it eventually because I have been reading the fest fics anyway, but lucky for me I got here a little earlier.

This is a wonderful, classic snarry. I loved Sev's snarky inner voice, I loved innocentish but cheeky Harry and the AU that had hints of the HP world. Harry brought up by Sirius and Remus, how wonderful was that?

Loved Sev's affection for Lily, loved the totally strange magical creatures, loved the wall sex and the rock sex and the totally hot library sex and loved the fact that Sev is a fan of the All Blacks and Harry appropriated his shirt. The thought of that cute pink little bum *shivers* yum.

Thanks for a brilliant story!

Lucie xx

WOOT! How did I miss this?! (checks date.) Oh. Yeah. That shitpile of schoolwork I had last week.

Well, am I ever glad something this awesomesauce was here! I'm just in the most SQUEEE-ful gleeful mood after reading this. What a delight. It moves faster than the Mystery Train, heading inexorably toward Lurve, of a strangely geekish (snape) and bubbly (Harry) sort. WOW. Your creativity in this is stunning!!!! The writing has a sexy look-at-me strut as it sashays along... I was up and loping after it within about five sentences. But nothing wasted in this writing. It rocks. The whole story rocks!

*huge hugs*
