Art and fic recs...

Three snarry fic recs, a couple of snarry art recs and a couple of snupin recs...

SNARRY:

Tira_Nog, the writer who has convinced so many readers of the plausibility of snarry, has written a new story. I believe it is the first new tira_nog story in some years! This is so unbelievably thrilling - and the story is wonderful!

Until Proven by tira_nog. (links to part 1, link to the second part at the bottom of the page.)
Rating:
Warning/s: rape; torture; angst
Summary: When Severus Snape is accused of molesting a student in detention, Professor Harry Potter comes to the rescue.

All the wonderful features of the classic tira_nog stoy are present: superb writing; divine bottom!snape sex; a snarky, snarling, unpleasant and surly Potions master, whose surface nastiness covers a vulnerable centre; and an earnest and candid Harry. This one seems more plot-driven than the others - at times the plot is excruciatingly suspenseful. The depth of charaterization and character development is still excellent, and the writng is well-crafted and moving. Ware the warnings I've given above, but do go and read this wonderful story - it's utterly, utterly brilliant..

FRESH FROM THE SNARRY_GAMES:

FICS:
Rook Castling Kingside by [info]whitecotton.
Rating: nc-17
Warning/s: underage kissing (Harry is 16); overage sexing (Harry is over 17)
Summary; Severus knows he is going to die in the war and is more than happy to oblige. Too long he has been the rook to Dumbledore’s queen, protector of Harry Potter – the king. Now he yearns only for peace. As the war with the Dark Lord intensifies, he makes his plans and indulges in recollection.

An intriguing and captivating story - this one grabs the reader and doesn't let go until the very end. It's the kind of story where you peek through your fingers as you read - there's this sense of impending doom that intensifies until it becomes almost unbearable. Throughout, there are little hints that might be reprieves, and might not....

This is such a well-crafted and well-thought out piece with the sort of high quality writing that manipulates the reader into certain directions. It's thought-provoking and highly enjoyable and definitely not to be missed.

She Who Knows the Orphan by [info]dacro.
Rating: pg-13
Warning/s: references to off-screen abuse, violence.
Summary: After using accidental magic to turn Pharaoh's would-be assassin to stone, an orphan suddenly finds himself with new rooms, new clothes and a new title: Palace Magician. When told he must choose a personal servant for himself, he selects someone who doesn't seem long for the world – a former priest and healer accused of murder.

As I mntioned last week, I can't resist a well-researched historical fiction, She Who knows the Orphan is one of those stories that transports the reader into a fictive world. Reading becomes an experience, rather than a cerebral activity.

Fascinating and well-researched, this story places Severus and Harry in Ancient Egypt, in the time of an unspecified pharoah. The story immerses the reader straight into the sights and smells and the impressions and feel, of Ancient Eygpt. Do not miss out on reading this one - it's a marvelous experience (and don't forget to leave the author some love.)

ART:
Two art recs this week!

Death Shall Have No Dominion by [info]littleblackbow.
Rating: pg
Warning/s: none given
Summary: from the A/N - Dark Shadows was a supernatural soap opera from the 60's that takes place in a fishing village in Maine and the Collinwood estate that overlooks the town. It has a cult following among many of us who love vampires, werewolves, ghosts, etc. Barnabas Collins is the vampire in the series. Harry is in the role of Vicky Winters whose point of view the series is from for the most part. I encourage anyone and everyone to go check it out. Most of the episodes are condensed and available on Youtube. :D

Littleblackbow's animations are rightfully highly esteemed by snarry-lovers - her art and the way she presents it is unique, striking, moving and ever so beautiful. This latest animation is no exception - the art is beautiful beyond belief, her characters are so real and moving, the music is perfectly selected and the whole piece is simply mesmerizing. A crossover with Dark Shadows, this piece is really effective even without knowledge of the TV series - I can only imagine that the impact must be even greater on those familiar with the series.
Utterly captivating, do go and have a look and tell the artist how wonderful this is.

Some Enchanted Evening by [info]karasu_hime.
Rating: G
Warning/s: Cross-dressing

Some Enchanted Evening is magical. That's the best way I can describe it. Even before the "magic" begins it is absolutely exquisiste. Severus' lovely long lines arched in the tango position - sublime! And then when the "magic" starts - it is fantastic, fabuous, wonderful. Do go and have a peek at this gorgeous art (and leave the artist some love.)

SNUPIN:

A rec from [info]lupin_snape's Retro Fest:
Recovery Position by [info]undunoops. (Link is to parts 1 and 2, follow the community retro fest tags to find the other chapters.)
Rating: nc-17
Warning/s: Drug use in Chapter 2, self-medicating drunkenness, and general thick-headedness throughout.
Summary:Retro Fest Prompt 44. OotP era- "Moony, you alright? I heard you groaning and--CHRIST! Shit, Moony, sorry, I didn't rea--wait...is that SNAPE?!"
Status: complete (12/12)

This story is so wonderfully, beautifully written - I am all admiration and awe, and more than a little teary-eyed. It works so very well - Severus' voice is brilliant and original and still in character. Remus is wonderful, strong and self-contained and loving. I love the way that he cares for Severus.
This story is utterly riveting and terribly moving. Do go and read it (and leave the author some love.)

A Thousand Dreams, Three Letters and One Wish by [info]red_day_dawning.
Rating: R
Warning/s: past major character deaths (off-screen); canon compliance.
Summary: While tending Snape's grave, Neville receives some unusual mail....

This is a love story where love and passion and longing transcend death. Minerva and Neville are the main protagonists, but it's all about the snupin love.
  • This is awesome, once again, thank you!

The Dacro fic is linked incorrectly, just fyi
  • This may sound a little strange coming from me, but thanks for reccing the Snarry art by Karasu Hime! It's so gorgeous, and since I'm not on any Snarry lists, I might not have seen it otherwise. The lines and the colors and the poses are all so beautiful!
    • Isn't it lovely? And the way it transforms is amazing. Although I must admit I find him 'prettier' not crosss-dressed.
Have you read Undunoop's story? It's marvelous.
      • I haven't read it yet, but it's on my "to read" list. Monday is Labor Day here in the States, so I'm hoping to get it (and some other Snupin) read over the long weekend. ^_^
  • Wow!
Thank you so much for the beautiful rec.
I see a few more comments on the story today, so I believe I have you to that for that!
    *Severus love*
    Dacro
