Okay, not by popular demand but it's been one of those Mondays and I want to share some silliness!
This was intended partly to see if I could restore html code from stored e-mail replies to the original posting, and it looks like I can. So I'm reposting the single most popular (in terms of replies) post I ever got at the old S_D.

From 1981 (and reprinted for the Warner Bros Stores in the 1990's) I bring you (once again)...

ISBN1563891417 for those interested.

I haven't included all the recipes because, well, the images are more than enough fun!

13 images, so NOT dial up friendly.

This was the real start of the breakup of the Dynamic Duo, one day it's keeping Salad Dressing secrets, the next day Robin's involved with an alien supermodel who is WAY hotter than Talia ever has been!

Wise words from Perry, but a little worrying he felt the need to WARN Jimmy about something so obvious, I sense a sad untold story somewhere in their mutual pasts....

This one transcends sarcasm....

What a dick Green Arrow is, taunting her like that!

But wait, these two feature again... and again... and really don't come out of it well.. I mean to say..

Oh yeah, THIS is going to end well. I approve of the short kid with the watermelon at the back, that's a healthy margin of error he's allowed for himself. The tallish one at the front with the apple I'm less confident about; one eyebrow twitch at the wrong time, and it's fruit and eyeball kebab treats!

From Amazonian Ambassador to corporate shill... Next thing you know she'll be flogging snake oil "Fresh from Medusa's head-snakes"

And this one is just plain weird...

And it was at this precise moment that Batman sadly admitted to himself that Jim Gordon really had gone batshit loco and should retire to Arkham....

There's a really bad "Riding Batman's coat-tails" joke I could make here, but I just can't phrase it properly.

And finally...

So Hal's contribution to the party is going to be alien foot-fungus droppings... Charming!

I hope you enjoyed this little foray into Caped Cuisine! There are so many more weird images I could share, but such is life!

LATE ADDITION

Actually, I cannot BELIEVE I missed this page.... Context is hardly required....

I mean, where else are you EVER going to see Robin actually say "Putting the banana in the Batman" with such a BIG smile on his face?

How cool would that be to serve to your friends?

And it is the single laziest drink you could possibly make for them, too, short of just pouring tap water in a bottle, which is pretty convenient.

Who's with me in wanting Peanut-Butter-Thing to be GL's next great nemesis?

Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; and bringing Paradise Pop into canon? I can see it perfectly. Booster Gold shilled for them, and they hired an actress to play Wonder Woman, because she's got better things to do. Diana wasn't mad at Mike, just disappointed.

OMG! CONDIMENT KING! Only, since the Riddler has reformed into Eddie Nygma, PI, Condiment King has decided to incorporate his methods. So he leaves Batman & Friends these mysterious clues that all pertain to recipes, his favourite foods, etc. And of course, Bruce is useless at cooking, so he calls Alfred

Alfred deciphers the Condiment King's clues to find out where his hideout is, but when Batman goes there, he is challenged to a COOK-OFF... OF DOOM!

Robin tries to give Batman tips, but he just cannot match the Condiment King's skill level, so Batman fakes a repetitive strain injury that prevents him from doing any cooking (he has a doctor's note from Leslie and everything!), so the Condiment King lets him pick a replacement competitor.

Enter Alfred Pennyworth: Master chef! Alfred PWNS the Condiment King at the cook-off, so the latter gets pissed and comes at him with a carving knife. Batman and Robin leap to Alfred's defense--but Alfred is quick with the pepper shaker and WHAM! Condiment King is temporarily blinded.

Batman and Robin bat-cuff Condiment King and call the cops. Gordon et all show up, and everyone has a nice picnic, eating the finished products of the cook-off.

THE END.

Best Batrecipe story ever. EVER!

Heh. Batman at the cook-off of doom. Loves:) I see him in a 'Kiss the Cook' apron at a grill, using way too much firestarter.

Also, repetitive batstrain injury? Most awesome fake story complication ever.

With, as usual, Alfred for the win.

LOVES:)

I wish to subscribe to your comics.

That's a pretty cool idea for the Condiment King, actually - he's hilariously useless just as a villain, so why not have him go straight as a celebrity chef/cookbook peddler in the vein of Julia Child or Rachel Ray? I can picture him having a TV cooking show where he's wearing a tacky outfit (probably a loud sportcoat and a fake plastic crown) and cooking food while ranting maniacally about it.

'And now we put the chicken - yes, the chicken, that's right - in the oven! And we - here comes the good part - we turn the dial to 375 degrees! And then we LEAVE IT! IN THE OVEN! FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, AND THEN WE TAKE IT OUT! Unless, um, unless it hasn't browned enough, then we PUT IT BACK IN AGAIN! Hee hee! Then, when it's out - hee hee hee - when it's OUT, yes - when the chicken comes out of the oven, we... EAT IT! That's the good part! And don't forget to have lots and LOOOTS of ketchup with it, because THE CONDIMENT KING - me, that's me! - SAYS SO! BON! AP! PET! TIT!'

And while he's not doing that, he does crimes. Wouldn't that be awesome?

Good lord, where do I start?
Bruce and Kory.:) Ack. And ick, a little. Plus, she wouldn't call him 'beloved' way too many times in short succession, move in with him briefly, then run home to daddy. He wouldn't know what to do with her. There is no contest on the hotness and self-actualization of Kory and Talia. But I never thought about it before, so thanks:)

As Bluefall mentioned re: Paradise Pop, Batmix is the snack equivalent of laziest snack ever. Except that instead of eating something out of the box, you open several boxes and pour it all into a bowl. I love that they have a picture there for the mixing bowl you'll need, then the serving bowl you'll need. It's like they're scared to let kids have a recipe that uses the stove. Except for I think those veggies are deep fat fried? Um, safety alert! Safety alert! Kitchen fires! Very bad burns! Can't put out an oil fire with water! Gotta get the special kitchen fire extinguisher, which I hope you have if children are deep fat frying vegetables in your kitchen. Also, healthy way to serve 'em! Which brings us to...

This time around, Commissioner Gordon, armed with pipe and pointer, mission-briefing auditorium-seated bell pepper, head of cauliflower and zucchini may be my fave.

Whoa, ironic! I was just finishing up making a batch of chocolate-covered crickets when I saw this. Mmm, tasty. Although I suppose crickets are kind of a super-villian treat, eh? Although I'd happily share the recipe. :P

I don't remember what I said last time I saw this on old S_D, but that last image is very disturbing. The 'french toast' looks unsettlingly like a make-up puff for applying blush. You DO NOT EAT THOSE. Even worse, it kinda resembles a panty liner, ect.
