This is probably a weird thing to pick up on, given all the drama and angst of this story, but I really love the way she's drawn: all big-boned, broad and curvy but muscular as hell. Maybe it's just me, but sometimes it seems like the only variation some artists put in female characters' body types is cup size, so this is refreshing.

I agree she's attractive as a big boned girl, and I'm impressed with her upper arm development, which would make sense for someone who is relying on her arms as a means of propulsion when training. It's noticeable that Barbara, who has been noted (by Dick) as probably having better upper body development and strength now than she did as Batgirl, looks quite so sleek in the arms.

hm, not that I don't agree with your lauding of different body types, but I was just thinking: while I could see Wendy as being big-boned and curvy, wouldn't /Babs/ be more likely to be more muscular? Wendy, if I recall correctly, is a teen genius for the Titans, so it's not like she exercises as much as they do to be /that/ muscular all around. Babs having the more muscled arm would make a lot more sense because she's had so many years of building them up while being paralyzed.

and I'm just not a fan of that last panel. unless there's some weird spandex on the seat of the pants, the sweatpants should just drape over her whole butt, not individual cheeks >:(

And then Cass can come back as a second Batgirl.

And Helena and Zinda and Charlie can come back!

And the book can become Oraclez And Batgirlz And Birdz Of Prey!

And then we will all go play in the cotton candy clouds above the DC offices, where there is only sunshine and rainbows and the crossovers only happen once every 5 years for a grand total of 3 months at most.

AND IT WAS GOOD.

Oracle 1.0 knows computers... but Wendy knows machinery.

She could be the DCU's Q (the James Bond one).

The Cavalier? Are the International Club of Heroes still patrolling Gotham even now that Dick is Batman?

You're thinking of the Musketeer. Cavalier is a reformed villain who was established as working as Leslie's bodyguard in one of the Gotham Gazette BftC tie-ins. (that same month he was still a villain in Secret Six and Bane broke his back, but that's neither here nor there)

Well its been established way back before infinite Crisis that Barbra's spine had been healed, its just the matter of her regaining the use of her legs after not using them for so long, but the writers have either forgotten about it or just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I can't tell you how much I love the fact that when Wendy asks what kind of stupid hero runs around in a wheelchair, Babs' internal response is basically 'True dat'.

God damn it, DC...

wait, you don't really believe that people in wheelchairs can have normal, fulfilling lives, do you?
why, that's just crazy talk

Not hero, she says SUPERhero, and when it comes to that I can think of less than a half dozen offhand, INCLUDING Babs, who I don't think views herself as a superhero per se.

Babs
Professor Xavier (from time to time)
Taki the Whiz-Kids from X-Terminators (Not seen in YEARS)
The Chief

Probably a few I'm missing, but it IS true, there aren't many

Actually, the internal response I got was "She's kind of in a bad spot, so I'll forgive it this time."

That look she gives Wendy just screams "oh no she didn't" to me.

I wouldn't say Babs was agreeing. I just think the remark hits home because she sometimes feels inadequate because of her handicap. Doesn't mean she thinks heroes in wheelchairs are useless.

So Wendy can move her legs, just not support her own weight? (They change positions through out the panels.) That...that kind of means therapy and exercise might give her back some walking capabilities.

Also, didn't Wendy rebuild Cyborg back when she was with the Titans? Isn't she supposed to be some genius wunderkind? Why doesn't she just build some kind of implant to fix her spine? Her paralysis isn't as bad as Barbie Doll's.

*sigh* I'm beginning to appreciate the WiR trope for all the wrong reasons. Kill a woman, it drives your guy protagonist to drive forward, build a giant robot, and wage an action packed war against the bad guys. Kill a man, and you get a story about accepting your disability and eschewing the technological bounties of your world. I don't know about you, but I'm not much for eschewing technological bounties.

You know, over all I really liked this issue. It was funny in the right places, had good action scenes and nice art.

Plus it's nice to see a superhero in the Bat Books enjoying their job instead of being all "My parents are dead/out to brainwash me! Whhhhhyyyy!?!?!?!?!"

Though the ass shot kinda takes away from the last of the panels posted here. Seriously, she's wearing joggin bottoms, how is her bum so well defined?

Huh... funny seeing that name.

I don't suppose there's any relation between this Wendy Harris and the Wendi Harris that's a star of horribad B movies and was married to Rex Tyler (the first Hourman)?
