The status of Sins Past, Post-OMD

Plus one more page from #607, where we see Spidey's post-coital bliss get interrupted.

They broke into a hotel? Black Cat doesn't have her own place?

It was part of their foreplay. "How about I break into a nice hotel room and you come catch me, Spider?"

That Spider-Man, what a role model for the young 'uns.

You're seriously comparing following Uncle Ben's credo of "With great power..." to illegally breaking into someone's hotel room on their wedding night to have a quick fuck? (Not to mention the whole bit of "I'm gonna come! Uhhh! Uhh! DON'T LOOK AT ME! I DON"T WANT YOU LOOKING AT ME!Uhhhhnggghh!")

Seriously?

So children should respect a dude who puts on a mask and smacks criminals around without giving them their rights due in the Constitution on the United States?

You can't be serious.

It's one thing to take down superpowered menaces that are terrorizing New York that the police can't handle and saving lives in the process.

I mean Christ, can you imagine if Joey Q said this, "Well, yes, Spider-Man breaking into a hotel room to have sex is illegal. Hut hey, it's illegal to fight Dr. Octopus without giving him his due rights. So it's the same thing, really!"

I'm baffled that I have to explain the differences here.

I'm baffled that I have to explain the differences here.

I wish I was, but there's an entire mentality out there in modern fandom that says that all character flaws and legal transgressions are morally equivalent, so there's no difference between the fact that Peter Parker originally made mistakes as a result of trying to take on TOO MANY responsibilities, versus his current status of making mistakes by not exercising ENOUGH responsibility.

I've literally lost count of the number of people who seem almost inherently incapable of recognizing the difference between the two.

No wonder, considering that the comics themselves keep on shoving down our throats "if you kill the Joker, you are just as bad as he is!"

The difference is that when Spidey smacks Electro, Dr. Octopus or even Juggernaut he's doing so to protect others. Others that wouldn't have any chance if they tried to face said criminals. So he potentially saves lives there that otherwise would be lost.

Here, Spidey does something for mere self gratification. And that's fine and dandy, you know? But in the process he causes discomfort and trouble to others. Others that have no way of prevent being gipped by Spiery and the Black Cat just because they were horny.

There is still, and I shudder at the thought of it, Gwen's father...George Stacy. But that'd be silly.

I wonder what happened to Arthur, her uncle, and Jill & Paul, her cousins.

Way to protect your secret identity, Peter? I mean, not only does he mention his aunt but I guess they see his face too.

Well, they seem pretty shocked about half-naked Spider-man in their hotel room, and the nospacetalking implies that he is babbling somewaht quickly.
The couple, unlike us, don't get to read the speech at their luxury. They hear it once, quickly, and that's it.

Maybe I'm just being too forgiving because that actually made me giggle, unlike just about anything else in BND.

Poor Anthony is stuck with a pretty shitty store, if all they have is Spider-Man. These days, comic book stores and even larger bookstores carry pretty much all of the mainstream output (trade format in bookstores), the 6 months gap is pretty much accurate though.
Luckily, a nice little family owned comic book store orders everthing directly from the States for me, for the cover price. :D

Anyway, does somebody recognize the guy from the next issue preview? I have absolutely no clue.

I kind of took it as 'they only have Spider-Man in German', so he's saying they don't have it in English (and he presumably can't read German well enough to read it) rather than that they don't have anything other than Spider-Man.

I'm young, and I feel guilty all the time! And not because I go about doing fell deeds, either.

If I frowned heavily at Tom Brevoort while he could see me, I would feel guilty, even though he clearly deserves it. Because that's the way I am. Which is why I was so fond of Spidey, even thought I thought he was kind of a plonker. I identified. From when I was eight, which is YOUNG, MISTER BREVOORT.

I love that Marvel has such respect for continuity that they refuse to undo the story so totally devoid of any redeeming virtues whatsoever that EVEN THE GUY WHO WROTE IT demanded that Quesada use OMD as an excuse to retcon it, since they were already retconning EVERYTHING ELSE, but Quesada said no - and yet, at the same time, they're willing to throw 20 YEARS OF PUBLISHED STORIES under the bus, just to satisfy Quesada.

Despite my criticism on how new yorkers hate spiderman despite years of heroic activities and the cops in BND being douches. For once, I think the couple would have more of a right to hate spider-man. I can't blame them if they go to a anti-spiderman rant because most likely, that opinion isn't misplaced consider what Peter did here.
