And the kids they dance, all the kids all night
Characters: Cassie and Peter
Setting: Movies then where ever
Content: Nothing questionable
Summary: Stature and Spider-Man go to the movies
The movie didn’t start for another hour and Cassie wasn’t supposed to meet Peter for another fifteen minutes, but the tickets were paid for, and here she was, standing outside the theatre, watching people pass on the sidewalk. Maybe she was a little nervous and maybe she’d actually brushed out her hair and maybe she was actually even wearing a little lip gloss. None of she and Peter’s other dates, back over a year before, really felt like dates, but for some reason this one did. Probably because she’d kind of just assumed he wanted a date in the first place and (even though he said he wanted to go out) maybe he actually didn’t want one and now there was this weird pressure.
Boys made everything so complicated (especially the ones Cassie liked). Apparently she couldn’t just get a crush on a normal guy, it had to be the adolescent time-traveling embodiment of a future all-powerful supervillain or an alternate universe’s very own Spider-Man. Instead of normal first kiss she got to throw herself at Kang the Conqueror before he left forever to go fix the timestream. And now, instead of just going on a regular date, she got to worry about whether she and Peter would have to abruptly end it to go kick some bad guy’s ass. Sure, it was the life she’d chosen for herself, but it didn’t make her feel any less nervous or any less stupid for feeling nervous at all. This was just Peter, anyway, and they were friends and partners-in-crime-fighting and this was just a movie and it was just so totally no big deal. Right? Right. So why was she pacing now and patting her hair like it must look terrible even though she’d spent ten minutes trying to get it to look nice in the first place. This was ridiculous. She was being a total spaz. This would’ve been easier with her mask on and maybe being able to punch somebody in the face. That would be the best date.
