Who: EVERYBODY.
What: The TWD crew is hosting a 4th of July celebration. Food, alcohol, fireworks -- come one, come all.
When: Thursday, July 4. All evening.
Where: Down by and around the lake.
Rating/Warnings: Just off the top of my head I'm going to guess language, juvenile delinquents, and possibly some public drunkenness. It is the 4th, after all.
Status: OPEN.

The basic schedule will look like this:

12:00 PM - Those wishing to help setup start arriving.
5:00 PM - Party goers not involved in setup start arriving.
6:30 PM - Grilling starts.
6:45 PM - Plates are being served.
8:00 PM - The Grill is fired down.
9:00 PM - Daryl and Rick shoot off the homemade rockets, six total.
9:45 PM - Hermione's grand finale firework show.

Cleanup and kicking people out will happen whenever people start getting tired. This is a Southern even, after all. They'll let it last high into the morning if that's what people want! No passing out by the lake, though.

NOTE: This is how the group thread is going to go down - Location threads have already been started within the post. The area and time are designated in the subject line. Comment to the areas you want your characters to play at, and put in the subject line of your comment who is participating in the thread or if it is open.

For example, if you decided to comment the GRILLING AREA - 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM thread, you would change the subject line to OPEN TO GRILLERS or DARYL/OPEN TO OTHERS WAITING IN LINE FOR FOOD. Then, as soon as someone joined, you may change the subject line to DARYL/RICK - CLOSED so that everybody would know that it's now become just a one-on-one convo between the two conversations.

Can I be in more than one subthread at once? Yes. Because there are events happening at different times, your character can easily be flitting around from person to person, mingling their lil' butt off. Just remember that it makes sense. You probably can't be standing in line at the same time as you're wandering along the forest edge waiting for everybody else to get their food first as those two events wouldn't work. But you could definitely be waiting in line for food, have a conversation, and then go sit down to eat and have another conversation. It's a party! Mingle!

And if in doubt? Ask! (Oh, and don't forget to tag yourself as you throw your characters in!)

I've added plenty of description for everyone to know what they are looking at, but I am not perfect! If I have forgotten something, feel free to pretend that I didn't and mention that it's there.

Last Note: Snap pops and sparklers are available for everyone.

Siri wasn’t entirely sure what had brought her there. She didn’t know exactly what this 4th of July was, and celebration was the furthest thing from her mind at the moment. But curiosity, and restlessness eating at her bones, had sent her wandering. And that had led her to the lake, and the others.

She skirted around the edges of the crowd, choosing instead to walk silently along the shoreline. Watching the festivities from a distance.

	“Explosives? This 4th of July celebration is definitely strange,” Siri replied, glancing over at him with a crooked grin. “And you’re even out being social. “If we’re using this as measurement you’re better at it than I am,” Siri teased, casting an amused gaze at the area she’d chosen. She’d gone nowhere near the busier parts of the celebration, slipping easily around what could, technically, be called the outskirts. If you were generous. Very, very generous.

She took the offered cup with a smile, studying its contents thoughtfully. He was right. It was very... orange. Giving it a curious sniff, she took a drink. It was... unusual. Good. But unusual. Taking one last sip, Siri held the cup back out to him.

	By the Force, it was good to hear him laugh again. Grinning brightly, she nudged him with her shoulder gently. “Only because I’ve had to be.” It was sort of an imperative part of undercover operations. “No brief, and no end in sight.” Which wasn’t exactly unfamiliar territory for her; there hadn’t been a specific end set for her mission with Krayn; she was to stay undercover until the mission was completed. Nothing less. It was only the arrival of Obi-Wan and Anakin that had moved up the timetable. The others might have been opened ended, too, but they weren’t ever meant to be long term assignments. Not the way the Krayn mission had.

At least here... here she could be herself. Siri glanced over at Obi-Wan. And she wasn’t alone.

Siri had seen Obi-Wan dressed in clothing other than robes, of course, but it had been for the mission’s sake, to play a part. It had also been extremely entertaining. Not that she’d been dressed much better. Or very much at all. She wondered just how disapproving he’d be of her considering doing the exact opposite. “There’s more to it than just fitting in. Having more than one change of clothes might be useful.”

	“You don’t have to decide right now, you know,” Siri told him with a smile. “I’m sure that the clothes aren’t going anywhere.” She followed his gaze to where Anakin stood. “Are you sure you want to know why?” Whether or not it could be worse than anything else he’d found out since arriving she didn’t know. "My guess would be that it's some sort of rejection of what he'll become. Like Ani cutting off his braid. Of course, it could be as simple as wanting to be more like the people he's met here. I'm not sure which possibility would be the disappointing one." He crossed his arms. "Anyway, I expect you're right: I should think about it."

Meditate on it.

"Ani tells me that some of the fireworks are magical."

	Siri looked at him, one particular part of what he said jumping out at her. “What do you mean, rejection of what he’ll become?” This wasn’t something she’d been told, yet. He didn't look at her right away, but when he did there was a steely resolve in his eyes.

"I was hoping he would have told you himself," he admitted. "In our world, some time after..." Her death. He couldn't. He went another route. "Near the end of the war. In our world, Anakin will fall to the Dark Side and wipe out the Order."

Not exactly the occasion, he felt, for such news, but he couldn't simply keep it from her anymore.

"Chancellor Palpatine is the Sith Lord. He'd been poisoning Anakin's mind slowly, for years."

He looked away.

"He sees it now. All of it. He's horrified by it. He's done everything he can to distance himself from it, but he takes full responsibility as well. If you feel a heavy cloak of guilt on him, that's what it's from."

Siri stumbled back a step, his words hitting her like a physical blow. She scarcely noticed his hesitation, so strong was her shock. It was only sheer force of will that kept her standing, kept her from giving into the unsteadiness in her legs, the trembling of her hands. Anger and disbelief and a sorrow so deep she couldn’t breathe from its intensity washed over her. A snarled knot of raw emotion that pulsed so strongly in her she ached with it.

And no matter how hard she struggled to accept the emotions, to let them go... she couldn’t. It was just one blow after another. He kills them. Destroys them. Destroys us. On the heels of that thought was another; could she have done something if she’d still been alive? Would she have made any difference? Or would she just have been another body on the pyre?

“Anakin is why the Order turns to ash...” It took her a moment to regain the ability to speak, and when she did her voice was pained. “And Palpatine was the Sith Lord. He was behind... behind everything.” How could we have been so blind?

She couldn’t breathe.

Those were exactly the words Siri didn’t want to hear. No. It was better to know the truth, she was sure, no matter how painful... but it didn’t feel like it. Knowing that Anakin would kill Obi-Wan... felt as though she’d been stabbed through the heart, burning as white hot as the blaster shot that had killed her. Guilt and horror welled up in her chest, as her knees buckled and she collapsed to the sand.

I should have been there. She should have been there, beside him... Beside them all.

She took an unsteady breath, bowing her head and closing her eyes, as the weight of everything settled onto her, an aching chasm that was growing steadily deeper with every new piece of information she was learning. She felt so lost. There were no words. She couldn’t find them. All she could do was kneel there on the sand and mourn.

Siri couldn’t help laughing, a soft, heartbroken sound... because that was so very Obi-Wan. And she wouldn’t have him be any way but what he was. No matter how easily he could irritate her at times. “I know. I wouldn’t - ” Her voice was ragged. Logically, she did know, she was well aware of the dangers of the Dark Side. She knew that the Anakin that was there with them hadn’t done those things. But she’d just had her world torn apart. Again. Logic wasn’t playing a very large part of her thought process currently. “You’ve just told me that not only will our Order be razed to the ground by the Sith, but that Anakin turns to the Dark Side and does it... you’ll have to give me a moment.”

He thought she meant to back off, and he did, sitting back on his heels to give her physical space. He understood how hard it was to accept; he'd had to face the same news not long ago. The same news coupled with the fact that his life's most important endeavour - the training of Anakin Skywalker - would be turned into the weapon that would destroy the Order. He felt... involved. Responsible. Dirty. No matter how much Anakin reassured him that his hands were clean, he didn't feel clean.

"I'm sorry; I shouldn't have told you here. Not like this."

That hadn’t been what she meant, but it didn’t matter. This wasn’t something she could accept in a moment. It wasn’t something she could accept in a day, or a week. Months or years, perhaps. But this wasn’t... Force, it made her ill.

“There’s no way to tell it well, Obi-Wan. Not news like this. And I would rather hear it from you than anyone else. You don’t have anything to apologise for.” It wasn’t the first time she’d told him that since arriving in the Land of Make Believe, and any other time she would have been amused. There was no amusement in her now; there was nothing but horror and sorrow and a sort of aching numbness lingering around the edges. Guilt and anger, too, laced through everything else.

Anakin was going to kill Obi-Wan. That was... She wasn’t certain she could forgive that.

	“I know you feel like you do.” That was simply a part of who he was. “But you don’t.” Something almost smile-like flickered across her face. “Trust me.” Her eyes dropped to his offered hand for a moment, before returning to his face. “Okay.” She reached out and took it, needing the physical contact more than he could possibly know.
