Warnings: The epilogue doesn't exist for me so this is EWE. There is mention of numerous character deaths and slight gore. There is also foul language, mentions of drug and alcohol use, Potter bashing (extensive), plots to take over the world... in other words, it is a Slytherin fic. ;)
Summary/Card interpretation: Crushing defeat brought about by idle intellectualism divorced from reality. (Which is portrayed by the end of the war with Voldemort and The Battle of Hogwarts.) Sadness and desolation in the aftermath of a catastrophic and total collapse. (Greg, specifically, how he deals with the end of the war, and the loss of loved ones.) A decisive conclusion brought about through the swift and merciless application of overwhelming force. (The aftermath of the war and what is necessary in order to preserve as much of the Wizarding World as possible.) This card also gives us a glimpse of hope. ;)
Greg and Tracey dealing with the aftermath of the final battle, to include the loss of one of their best friends and the total destruction of their world.
A/N: Greg and Tracey call each other Val and Maeve, nicknames from childhood. According to the Lexicon, the Goyle family is likely from Northern Ireland and I've gone with that supposition when I write Greg. Also, there is frequent references to The Little Prince as according to the 'canon' jandjsalmon and I have created when writing this pairing, it was their favourite book growing up. Card Interpretation: The Hermit signified someone at a crossroads, someone trying to figure out who they were, and also how to be part of a greater whole after being alone. The knight of pentacles was everyone coming together, success within your grasp. And the Tower was the doom that could befall you if you failed to pay attention to the lessons of your past. The exploding cards became images and characters.

The Afterword:
I struggled quite a bit with how to connect three very distinct parts in a thematic whole, as well as how to incorporate the exploding cards into the fic. Two of them were fairly obvious. The Ten of Pentacles became Abraxas, and the Star was Narcissa. For the rest, I ended up trying to incorporate their images either into various characters or just referencing the images themselves. The 3 of cups became the merfolk-themed engagement party, the reversed King of Cups became Lucius' lust for power, and the Six of Swords became Harry Potter and his grief and anger over Ginny's betrayal. The Ace of Pentacles was a bit more difficult, and ended up becoming Lucius' ability to use his money to get what he wants

Card Interpretation: Death reversed is "holding onto something you know is over," such as a relationship you stayed in too long. The Wheel of Fortune reversed is taking control of your destiny. And the eight of cups is "Possibility of change in a stable situation. Flashes of excitement, movement." I also interpreted "death, reversed" as orgasm denial, the wheel of fortune as suspension bondage, and the eight of cups to be potions, so you will find all three of those elements in the story as well. This gives away the whole fic, so just a warning. Nine of Spears-Reversed is the worst possible reaction to a change, like Andromeda suddenly leaving. 10 if Cups-reversed are family problems, disappointment and loss of social standing, pettiness, and antisocial behavior. Instead of just losing Andromeda, Narcissa really doesn't have Bella anymore either. And the talk is going out of control Gossip-Girl style. 4 of Swords is "recuperation, healing, and retreating to a calm, safe environment. Respite. Leaving a stressful, chaotic situation in order to clear the mind and re-evaluate plans. Gentle soul searching. Regaining strength and direction. Being given protection and warm hospitality. " This is after Narcissa and Lucius decide that they're both in the same boat, more or less. So everything's going great until Lucius has to leave a party to go death-eating.
