| New Thread: Katsuko & Kakashi! |
[Feb. 8th, 2010|05:09 pm] |
The day after This Time is Different, Kakashi's training to get himself back into mission shape--and to keep his mind off of Ginta and Ryouma. He's doing a pretty good job of it too, until Katsuko shows up wearing one of Ryouma's shirts.
Katsuko just wanted a nice, relaxing day in the practice fields doing kata--what she got instead was an angry man with grey, gravity-defying hair translocating in front of her and demanding why she smelled like Ryouma. There is, Kakashi and Katsuko discover, Something We've Been Missing.

| New Thread: Ginta's Grandmother |
[Feb. 8th, 2010|02:07 pm] |
Never What I Expected - Sakamoto Chihiro knows about propriety and responsibility. It's time, she tells herself, that her grandson Ginta discard the rebellious games of childhood, and take his place as his grandfather's heir and head of the Sakamoto clan. But Hatake Sakumo's son Kakashi, it seems, stands in her way.

New thread continuing the backstory arc of Genma and Kakashi's ill-fated mission to hunt a breaking ninja, immediately following How Many Ways Do You Wanna Die
Mightier Than The Sword - Kakashi bet Genma's life, and his own, on a gamble that Iwagakure would honor the newly-minted treaty between The Village of Stone and the Village of Leaves. In the middle of a weary night, the Hokage and Arakai, ANBU's Director of Operations, face heavy choices of life and death over a quiet game of Go.

| New Thread: Ginta and Ryouma! |
[Jan. 31st, 2010|01:32 am] |
In This Time Is Different, Ryouma's back from his latest mission and its awkward morning-after with Katsuko. Back, and still avoiding Kakashi. Back, and just one step away from a chakra pill overdose. After the medics buff him up, he stops by to visit Ginta, hoping for sympathy. What he gets looks a lot more like an intervention. And a lot more like what he really needs: a friend.
You asked to see what happens next between Ginta and Ryouma, and we delivered. Let us know what you think in the guestbook please. Or new feature, comment here!
Also, apologies for the delays in responding to the flurry of activity in the guestbook of late. Replies coming soon. |

| New Thread: Kakashi and Ginta |
[Jan. 21st, 2010|08:23 pm] |
Meant to Live -- Once there were two men, a Genus and Jackass, who had a lot more in common than either of them was willing to admit. With Ryouma gone, Kakashi is confident there is no one left in the world who would dare to call him friend. Sakamoto Chihiro would be delighted if Kakashi never came near her grandson again. Ginta is a born rebel: he defies them both. With nothing left to ask for and nothing left to give, Ginta and Kakashi come face to face with each other, with their pasts, and with the truth -- friend is much more than just a word.
Leave us your thoughts in the guestbook, please. And if you're feeling adventurous, tell us what you think (or hope) will happen next. |

| Backstory Thread: What Happened to Genma's Hands |
[Jan. 14th, 2010|03:49 am] |
In Bringing Back the Living, Genma and his teammates Kobo and Seijuro are missing, presumed captured, feared dead. The ANBU retrieval team sent to bring them back find unimaginable horror and unendurable loss. From the point of view of the rescue team, this is the story of what happened to Genma's hands.
Feedback in the guestbook would be a fantastic birthday present for me, if you felt like giving me one.
(Originally part of Scarlet Spiral, I've extensively expanded and rewritten this story to conform to Fallen Leaves canon, and fill in this crucial missing piece in Genma's backstory.) |

| Thread Index Updated |
[Jan. 13th, 2010|09:52 pm] |
I have just updated the Fallen Leaves Thread Index. Have a look and let me know if your thread summaries need improving.
I'd love to hear any suggestions on making the thread index more user-friendly. A lot of threads take place in March, for example, and it looks rather daunting. Currently all threads are listed chronologically, with a few thread arcs collapsed into single entries. Would it be helpful if it were sortable by character, or perhaps more graphical? Should there be additional information beyond thread title, characters involved and a brief summary? Would it be more usable as a table, sortable by character, for example? Alas, even if so, I lack the HTML skills for that level of coding, and the amount of work that would seem to entail leaves me trembling with trepidation.
The Plot Summary page remains sadly out of date, as it is an even bigger job to go in and bring it current than maintaining the thread index. Anyone who wishes to volunteer for the job will receive the undying love of the Moderators.
(Since posting comments to the OOC Comm is limited to the writers of Fallen Leaves, Readers with feedback about the Thread Index and Plot Summary, please leave your suggestions as replies to this entry in the Mods' journal.)

| Kakashi/Rina backstory thread! |
[Jan. 6th, 2010|01:17 am] |
Kakashi is late for Minato's funeral. Rina is mourning the sensei she never had. Despite common theory, sometimes the student should never be a teacher.

| Genma/Raidou part 2 (this time that slash really means something!) |
[Jan. 5th, 2010|03:24 pm] |
Chasing the Sun The brakes didn't stay on for long. After visiting Raidou's brothers, Genma and Raidou find themselves back in Genma's apartment. And not long after that, in Genma's bed. What, exactly, had they been so afraid of? As Genma says, and Raidou agrees, they should have done this months ago. Rated XXX for graphic sexual content, and <3<3<3 for romance.
Part 1: Warm in the Shadows Part 2: Chasing the Sun
Coming soon: part 3: Daybreak
Please leave us feedback in the Guestbook. We know you've been waiting for this moment. |

| New Genma & Raidou Arc! |
[Jan. 3rd, 2010|09:56 pm] |
In Warm in the Shadows, Genma and Raidou are out of the hospital at long last. In their first hour of freedom, all they want is a little fresh air, a little taste of normal life. A visit to the Academy schoolyard to look in on Raidou's brothers seems safe enough. Of course they haven't talked about that balcony kiss in the three days since. Did it even happen? But just when Genma is deciding he needs to offer Raidou a graceful out, Raidou turns Genma's world on its head, and kisses him again, this time like he really means it.
Part 1 of 3 Warm in the Shadows
Coming soon: part 2: Chasing the Sun part 3: Daybreak
Please leave us feedback in the Guestbook. We're dying to know what you think of the new developments in Genma and Raidou's relationship! |

| Fun Request for Help |
[Dec. 1st, 2009|01:45 pm] |
Hey, fellow players!
My friend Kiki, who was the original Hayate in Scarlet Spiral, is working on a degree in literary studies, with a minor in folklore, and asked if she could make Fallen Leaves the subject of a paper. Her letter of introduction and a survey are below. This isn't compulsory, but of course the more responses she gets, the better. She'd also like to have us participate in a group chat about Fallen Leaves, if anyone is interested. It would have to be in the evening, US Mountain Time (GMT-7). Is there any interest in that?
Thanks for your help. Remember to send your responses as emails to k.florez@aggiemail.usu.edu. All responses will be kept confidential, and only Kiki will see them, not the mods or your fellow players.

In celebration of the Thanksgiving holidays I offer a gift: comment fic! Within the Naruto, Onryou and/or Fallen Leaves universe, give me a character(s), pairing (if you so choose), and a prompt. Comment to this post (and in the case of the people who have found their way here from the Fallen Leaves OOC community, comment on the post in my Livejournal) with the aforementioned requirements and I will reply with a little fic-bit in the same thread. Restriction to two prompts a person; if you bribe me, it could be moved up to three prompts. Any characters, any pairings!
(This meme continues until I announce its closure)
Ready? SETGO.
Example post:

| New thread: Ryouma and Katsuko |
[Nov. 21st, 2009|11:51 am] |
Ryouma's never been too good at aftermaths. And after things with Kakashi took a sharp turn for the disastrous in All My Regrets Are Nothing New, he signed up for the first mission out of Konoha. The problem with running is that sometimes, you run straight into someone else. Katsuko's got issues of her own--and while she can appreciate Ryouma's biceps and wonder about his scars, she's much less appreciative when he starts asking about her own.
Sometimes the armor the Quartermaster issues isn't the most important kind. Check out Lay Your Armor Down, Part I of a three-part arc, to find out what happens when those invisible shields start to crack.
As always, comments are welcomed (and, in fact, earnestly solicited) in the guestbook! |
