| New thread: Ryouma and Katsuko |
[Nov. 21st, 2009|11:51 am] |
Ryouma's never been too good at aftermaths. And after things with Kakashi took a sharp turn for the disastrous in All My Regrets Are Nothing New, he signed up for the first mission out of Konoha. The problem with running is that sometimes, you run straight into someone else. Katsuko's got issues of her own--and while she can appreciate Ryouma's biceps and wonder about his scars, she's much less appreciative when he starts asking about her own.
Sometimes the armor the Quartermaster issues isn't the most important kind. Check out Lay Your Armor Down, Part I of a three-part arc, to find out what happens when those invisible shields start to crack.
As always, comments are welcomed (and, in fact, earnestly solicited) in the guestbook! |

[Nov. 12th, 2009|12:02 pm] |
The Devil's Got My Secrets, set back when Kakashi was still comatose, is a new Tsume/Ryouma thread, now up!
Tsume is more than willing to sit vigil with Ryouma, and provide as much distraction as necessary. In this case, distraction comes in the form of a card game. The stakes? The truth.
Check out The Devil's Got My Secrets, and then if you have time, head over to the the guestbook! |

After, oh, just a short hiatus (really. >.>), the Pirate thread has been finished! Check out the hospital thread, where Kuromaru gets to show off his new rhinestone eyepatch, and Asuma dances in the halls. No shit! :D
Yay, finished arcs!
Feuds and Families is up!

The key to a conscience-easy life is paying your debts. At least, that's the theory anyway. But Kakashi's weeks behind on visiting Obito, and Ryouma's got secrets of his own to share.
Well, no one stays happy forever.
Not to mention Intel need their reports filling in, the doctors have their rounds to make, and someone should really check to see how Hoshika's doing. Check out how things go in All My Regrets Are Nothing New. And please don't forget to leave us some feedback in the guestbook. :D |

I heard that line somewhere. I'm sure of it.
Anyways.
Go check out Reconaissance and Recovery, the second part in the three part arc about Haruichi's and Katsuko's Epic Desert Adventures!
P.S. The first part of the arc was called Celestial Navigation. Remember? Eh? Eh?
Remember to leave comments in the guestbook, loves.

| Arc? What is this 'arc' you speak of? |
[Oct. 25th, 2009|07:58 pm] |
To quote Sna...you've been hearing about this thread (now an arc because somehow it turned epic) for a bloody year, and now here it is! Matured like a fine cheese! Delicious and not for the lactose intolerant!
Go check out Celestial Navigation, the first in a three-part arc about Haruichi's and Katsuko's mission to rescue a kidnapped princess deep in the howling deserts of Wind Country!
No, seriously. Remember to leave comments in the guestbook, luvs.

| New Threads & Index Updated |
[Oct. 22nd, 2009|12:40 pm] |
Hey there! Nezu the Mod here. JB has stepped down from her position as Thread Index owner, because she has about a zillion other things (hint, see her post about her new books) going on in her life, and just writing her characters is more than enough work for her. That meant someone else needed to pick it up. Namely me. And I was, uh... Well, I don't have as good an excuse as JB, but anyway, I didn't get it done right away. But now it is updated!
Genma and Raidou are almost ready to leave the hospital, and have had a major development in their relationship: Raidou confessed to having kissed Genma when Genma was drunk. Genma's response? To kiss Raidou again, properly sober. (The Shadow Proves the Sunshine)
Rina visited Genma and is realizing her place in Genma's life has been eclipsed by Raidou. (Almost Not Alone)
Kakashi and Ginta are also still in the hospital. Ginta's in traction half the time, Kakashi's just woken up from a coma, and Ryouma is camped out at Kakashi's bedside. (Welcome to My Morning)
Hiro is continuing to develop his friendship with Ginta, giving Ginta something to do other than dwell on the situation with Kakashi and Ryouma and mope about being cooped up in bed. (The Little Things Give You Away)
Asuma and Tsume are still dealing with pirates and mistaken assumptions about each other's skill levels. (Kunoichi and Bastards)
Kuromaru is paying the price for Tsume's jutsu. (Coming and Going)
Ryuichi and Katsuko are waiting for the other shoe to drop, and working out their differences in fairly typical ANBU fashion: with a spar that stops just short of killing blows. (All You Can Take)
Haruichi has been taking missions but will be back soon to take Genma to task for having gotten himself injured again.
Yanagi is undercover somewhere, maybe even singing a song about Genma.
Ibiki is undoubtedly in the sub-basement.
Natsumi is working on rehabilitating her injured hand without letting her dad know she got hurt in the first place. Also possibly pining for Asuma.
Kaito is taking missions and still trying to master the concept of "charm" that Genma is so het up about.
---
There are also a couple of backstory threads you may have missed:
The Ballad of Shiranui Genma: Four years in the past, Yanagi and Genma's friendship got off to a rocky start. Yanagi had promised Genma a song when they parted. His method of delivery--a two AM serenade outside ANBU HQ--left a little to be desired, but Genma invited him in anyway. Yanagi was having a little trouble remembering just exactly who he was, but Genma turned out to have a hidden talent for reminding him.
Lost and Found : More recently, in early March Genma visited the infirmary to restock his medkit, and found Haruichi nearly catatonic in the aftermath of his unexpected meeting with Hiro. Genma did what any good friend would: he patched Haruichi up, took him upstairs, and poured him a stiff drink.
Feedback is always appreciated, and I promise to get to answering guestbook commentary soon.

| Completed Thread: The Little Things Give You Away |
[Oct. 22nd, 2009|09:37 am] |
After his grueling experience debriefing Genma, the last place Hiro wants to go is back to the ANBU ICU. But he's already managed to weasel his way into acquiring a copy of Ginta's file, and visiting friends is different.
Complete with rapid-fire verbal sparring, Hiro and Ginta's secret plans for ANBU reorganization, tales of explosive missions past and present, and, of course, more koi, The Little Things Give You Away is not to be missed.
And, if you enjoyed reading, please let us know in the guestbook! |

| 'All You Can Take' is complete! |
[Oct. 11th, 2009|03:24 pm] |
Ryuichi's piss-drunk. Katsuko's just pissed. After the events of Knife's Edge and No Rest For the Wicked, they also still have issues to clear up. Will only one or both of them walk away from this alive?
Find out in All You Can Take!
Comments are greatly appreciated, as are donations of free food, money, a car, possibly a house, and maybe a pair of Jimmy Choos. Feel free (heh) to leave 'em all in the guestbook!
Peace! Ash the Magnificent |

Even debriefers have debriefings; after his grueling interview of Genma and an irate Raidou, Hiro is no exception. But faced with delivering his report -- and justifying his questionable decisions -- to the impenetrable and enigmatic Sato Kotoe, while trying to keep his mind off an unsettling encounter in the hallway of the ICU, Hiro might be forgiven for wondering if he's been handed Just Enough Rope to hang himself with.
I hope you enjoy the thread, and as always, it'd be great to hear what you think! |

Coming home from a mission, Rina finds Genma in the hospital with injuries to rival the ones he'd had when she met him five years ago, and all of her painstaking work on one of his hands destroyed. It feels so similar, but they find that things have changed between them when they weren't looking.
Read the new thread, Almost Not Alone, and comment in the guestbook if you enjoy it! |

| More than Epic |
[Aug. 27th, 2009|03:13 pm] |
At current count, there are approximately 210 individual threads listed in the thread index (with a handful more not yet listed.) If we use a conservative assumption of 10,000 words per thread, that is over two million one hundred thousand words.
That's twenty-one long novels. Or thirty-eight short ones.*
In the twenty-one months since Fallen Leaves started, we have produced an average of a novel a month, and, excluding backstory threads, covered five months of in-game time.
Are you astounded yet? I sure am. Twenty-one novels in twenty-one months. Congratulations, writers. We rock!
*Many genres seem to have succumbed to supersizing. A mass-market western, mystery or SF novel used to run to 60,000-70,000 words. Now they're more likely to hit 90,000 words. Fantasy novels seem to be about 125,000 words—per volume, with some series going on and on. Mainstream fiction can be anywhere from 55,000 words (about the length of many mass-market romances) to ten times that. --from Writing Fiction |

| New books! |
[Aug. 13th, 2009|12:56 pm] |
Hey, all! Wondering what I've been up to that I've been gone so much? ...probably not, unless you follow my LJ. *grins* Well, I've been gone and up to no good at all! That's the best kind. :D
I have two books out in print, just released yesterday! You can win copies by checking out the Torquere Social blog, where I'm bouncing around today having contests and posting excerpts of my books.
By Degrees (that's the ebook link; there's also a print version) is about Tim and Con, a doctor and a firefighter, who meet and fall in love. Well. Sorta. They're old friends, and Tim has Issues. He's a hard nut to crack, but Con is up for the challenge. ;-D Look, pretty cover!

In the Rough (that's the print version: the ebook version is here) is about Jay and Rick. Jay finds out his daughter was molested in his ex-wife's care, and has to put his life back together to get custody. Rick is there to help, like he's always been, but trying hard not to fall in love. Lucky for us, he'll probably fail at that attempt. :D
Pretty cover!

I have a couple of hetrosexual romances out, too, which can be found on my official website, if that's more your cuppa.
So go, my minions! Enjoy! :D
...and I'll stop filling up the OOC with REALLY OOC stuff, now. Really. Honest. Maybe. :D

| new thread up! |
[Jul. 11th, 2009|07:34 pm] |
Did you feel that FUBAR was a little bit short as threads go? Well, to make up for it Nezu and I wrote a thread that's easily a thread and a half. ;-D
Several months after Genma was thrown over a waterfall by an undercover Intel agent, he's requested to keep another Intel agent from dying by poison. He isn't impressed to discover the two men are one and the same. But a mission is a mission, even when your mission partner nearly killed you before. For the time being, Hunter and Intel are just going to have to get along.
Read on, in Karma's Bitch!
And then drop us a line in the guestbook and let us know what you think. :D

Four years ago, Genma just barely survived brutal torture. In the hospital, hands shattered and spirit nearly so, he has to find the will to fight again. There, he meets Rina, a budding seal specialist apprenticed to Genma's doctor to aid in the hellish task of putting Genma's hands (and soul) back together. In Got That Mountain to Climb, the two of them find their lives intertwined, and maybe discover some hope along the way.
Comments in the guestbook are always very much adored! |

A while ago, Dark and Nezuko gave me permission to write a piece inspired by their arch with Sago and co. It spawned Said and Done. Now I give you the second piece. Any and all mistakes are my own and should not reflect on the original authors. Please enjoy!
Another Word for Trust
When it’s done, they’ve got two ANBU down for the count and far more bodies than anyone wants to deal with. Sago orders all of them back with the efficiency Rikuto’s come to expect. The bodies are left where they fell. Even if they had the time or the chakra, none of them give enough of a damn to bury their teammates. Somebody will find the mess eventually, but corpses of low-rank missing-nin don’t hold any secrets worth the trouble of searching.
( There’s no tactical reason to waste the chakra, so they don’t. ) |

| Thread Complete: FUBAR |
[Jun. 27th, 2009|04:36 pm] |
FUBAR: it's an acronym for a very special sort of military situation. One where a younger Genma finds himself fighting saboteurs on the roof of a power station, and one of his enemies turns out to be, in the words of Genma's mission report, on our own fucking side. The only way to keep from blowing Yanagi's cover is to throw the fight and make it look good.
Yanagi's a new character, so we're especially eager to hear your feedback. Let us know what you think in the guestbook.
Hope you enjoy! |

[Jun. 26th, 2009|11:05 pm] |
JB is picking up a new character!
Kaneko Yanagi age 25, Jounin, Intel Field Ops AIM: JBreenMcDragon Player: JB
Yanagi is a fantastic fresh face, though as it turns out, he's been around ANBU for quite some time. Keep your eyes peeled for backstory threads featuring Yanagi and Genma coming soon, as well as some hilarious new ones.
And can all players please update your friends lists to add fallen_rina. The Friend Add Tool has been updated to make it easier. |
