Six months ago, in early April, Tousaki Ryouma disappeared so thoroughly that ANBU's best trackers couldn't hunt him down. Now he's back, with new scars and new stories, and despite all the odds Kakashi's still around to greet him.

| Leaves is returning! |

To our dear and faithful readers,
Leaves is not dead! It has been at least seven months since our last thread was posted, but we are glad to announce that soon there will be much more to read.
Ryouma's writer, Ki, has returned to us, and without giving away too many spoilers, Ryouma's story is not over. And of course there will be other familiar faces returning.
The plan is to kick things off with a six-month timeskip following Off the Edge of the Map, which is the last thread posted in the Kakashi-and-Ginta-go-after-Ryouma arc. Though rest assured, that arc will be finished.
We want to thank all of you who have stuck with us this long, especially those who have left reviews in the guestbook. We have read and treasured each one (even if we have been exceptionally lax about responding).
Keep an eye out here, where announcements of threads will be put up as they’re posted, and as always feel free to leave us comments, questions, or otherwise in the forum, the guestbook, or this entry of the main page.

Gunmetal here, breaking the hiatus with some Halloween cheer!
The months after Kyuubi were long and hard. With so many of Konoha's elite dead or incapacitated, Katsuko's chuunin team was forced to pick up a patrol run on Lightning's borders that should have fallen to a squad of jounin. It wasn't long before Kumo ninja took advantage of Katsuko and her team's inexperience and launched an ambush. Now, with her sensei dead and her teammates missing, Katsuko is at the mercy of one of Cloud's most brilliant--and insane--scientists.
In a Place Like This is a look into Katsuko's past and the origins of her scars, as well as her decision to join ANBU. Warning: mentions of child abuse, torture, and overall dark themes ahead. |

Now ANBU's jackass and genius are out in the field again, defying direct orders and three weeks late to track down the man that broke them apart, with Pakkun as their only help and a Hunter team hot on their heels...
Just another day in the life.

| New Genma/Rina backstory thread! |

Clearer Skies Ahead - In the aftermath of a daring rescue, Rina and Genma are separated for debriefing. Genma's stuck cooling his heels in the hospital, but Rina can't face the night alone. She sneaks back in for some post-mission comfort, and what turns into a much more serious talk than either of them expected.
Set three and a half years before current timeline, less than a month after Genma's return to active duty following his capture by Iwagakure, and long before Rina becomes part of ANBU.

At long last, the next chapter in the story of Genma and Raidou.
No Way Back
They've slept together, now they're waking up together, but something has gone horribly wrong. In possibly the worst morning-after in history, Raidou wakes in Genma's bed to find his bandages coming undone. There is panic, there is violence, and then, for the first time in ten years, Raidou sees his own face.

When two or more Fallen Leaves writers end up in the same room together, we like to play drabble games. We put prompts in a hat — character names, scenarios, concepts, emotions — and then draw three, and have twenty minutes (ish) to write something from those prompts. These are from drabble games I played with Phi, JB, and Dark a year and more ago. Note they are unedited — this is what Fallen Leaves first drafts look like. And some of the ideas are perhaps a little cracktastic.

Back in the day, sna forgot this thread was written... Or maybe she just forgot how to use a keyboard. Anyways! Here's a new, slightly backdated thread, starring Haruichi and Genma. Watch out Genma, Haruichi has his snark on and he's looking at you.
Not That Kind of Hand Job
Genma and Raidou are still in hospital, having just shared that momentous and unexpected kiss in The Shadow Proves the Sunshine the day before. Haruichi's just back from a mission of his own, a little banged up, and off to see about knocking some sense into Genma's head, if Genma's stable enough to take a beating.

| All Good Things Come To An End |

It’s been an incredible two and a half years here at Fallen Leaves, but the time has come for me to say goodbye. For a variety of personal reasons, I’m stepping down as a mod and resigning as a writer. As original characters, both Tousaki Ryouma (![[info]](https://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) fallen_ryouma) and Shiota Natsumi (fallen_natsumi) will be retired. (So will Shiota Takeo, fallen_takeo, who unfortunately never saw the light of day.) In my personal theories, Natsumi continues being awesome in ANBU. As for Ryouma...well, wait and see!
My sincere gratitude goes out to the writers and readers who’ve made this such an incredible journey. I’m sad to leave, but I have a host of wonderful memories to look back on. You’ve been fantastic friends, and I can’t thank you enough for the support, the encouragement, and the fun times. I hope they’ll continue without me. ♥
