Characters: Rena and Thomas
Setting: Madison's Pub
Rating: PG for yelling, probably?
Summary: Thomas has some explaining to do
Status: Threaded, incomplete
He had no idea what time it was when he finally arrived back at the pub- the hours spent with Abby had slipped away blissfully uncounted. Though part of him had desperately wanted to stay with her at the Forrester's home, he knew that he couldn't leave Bridget alone all night- he'd already been reckless enough and, though it had been worth it, Thomas berated himself for putting Bridget so low in his priorities, if temporarily. He'd left Abby there- not wanting to alarm Gabrielle or Domenic with her absence- leaving a note on her bedside table, simple words in his own hand so that, if nothing else, she would wake up and realize that it hadn't been a dream.
Opening the door to his quarters at the inn, Thomas was pleased- though not surprised, he had to admit- to see Rena there, asleep with Bridget. They both looked to be sleeping soundly, so rather than wake them he just closed the door quietly and turned back to the common room. In theory, of course, the inn never closed- but after a certain hour in the early morning the bar and kitchen were closed and most of the local patrons felt little need to stick around after that. If a wayward traveler showed up after that, well, that was Thomas' job to take care of. There seemed to be no worry of that tonight, however, and Thomas just sat down in a chair at a table near the fire, leaning his head on his arms and- despite what might have otherwise been an awkward or uncomfortable position- he was soon asleep.
