Summary: My name is Death and the end is here...
As the month drew closer to an end, Lana had spent her days preparing for what she truly believed was the inevitable. While her visions had only ever been about herself, she had yet to encounter one that had been wrong. With that knowledge in mind, Lana did what she could to set her affairs in order. She had put in her notice with the Travers, letting them know that they would need another governess, thankfully they had seemed to find one that was suitable. Lana had been working with her the past few days to make sure that she had the children's routines down as well as their dietary needs and the needs of both Galen and Lia.
Along with making sure the Travers’ children would be taken care of, Lana had also sent a package to Emmeline, instructing her not to open it until after the first of May. Beltane. She would be gone by then, that much she was sure of. It would be safe for Em to open the package after. The package contained a letter to Em, one telling her that she was sorry for being gone. Expressing her love to Em, Fay, Gideon, Molly and Diggle. Lana knew that Emmeline was strong, and most likely the one with enough to keep her wits about her. She knew she could trust Em to convey her love to those closest to her. To try and ease their minds to the best of her ability. To send word to her parents, along with a package for them.
It wasn’t usual for someone to be aware of when the end of their life was approaching, so Lana did all that she could to prepare for it. Anytime she parted from her friends, she held on a little tighter, hugging them close as though it were the last time she would put arms around them. She savored the moments that she had left, taking in each with the knowledge that it could be the last. She wanted to make her possible last moments with them nice, low stress and something they could hold onto with fond memories. Which was her goal for the day as she packed a bag full of fun toys and adventure for the Travers’ children. A final play date before the new governess took over completely. Something that she had told Galen and Lia about, letting them know she would take the children to a nearby park since the day was suppose to be nice. A best friend date with Fay later would complete her evening, giving her something more to look forward to.
Perhaps it was the lovely spring weather that kept her from apparating that day. The warmth of the sun upon her face as she stepped from her flat and onto the sidewalk. The days were becoming longer… warmer… Flowers were in bloom and the world was coming to life again after another winter had come and gone. She wanted to savor it and take it all in for as long as she could. Her own naturistic upbringing taking hold and driving her desires in that moment, could have very well marked her. Though it was unlikely that her appreciation of Mother Nature was the reason behind anything at all.
Taking in a deep breath of fresh air and feeling the warm sun on her face. Those were the last memories she had before the world went black. She couldn’t pinpoint what spell had hit her or how long it had been since it had hit her. All she knew as she began to surface back into consciousness was that this would be the end. The who, where and why -- she didn’t know. But she knew the what. And she was ready.
