He'd been on her tail for weeks. While the Librarian kept her secrets close to the vest, there was only so long anyone could continue to hold on to such desperately dire powers before fear began taking them over. However, her family had never been the type to crack easily. In all of the past thousand years they had kept their mouths shut quite well to only have recently seemed to let their well kept secret slip. The question was, how did that come to be…? If Octavia knew she was being tailed or not, well... That was a completely different story. What she did know that Emillion was no longer a safe haven for herself of her section of the crystal. The simple question in this situation was, where was? Now, that was a question much easier asked than answered. Something in her better judgement had told her to keep the shard hidden, to not move it regardless of anything that had happened, but… If they knew she was the holder, then what else might they know? Though, perhaps the most unfortunate part in all of this was the fact that The Knight - the man tailing her for weeks - was not the only one who had come to follow the Librarian, and he’d also failed to realize precisely what may be going on with the Monk who had wandered into town not long before him catching on to precisely what seemed to be going on. It was by this series of events, and worry that Octavia found herself slipping through crowds, and by elaborate theater fronts along her way, eyes turned down this night with only the thought of how she had to remove the shard, and it must be now before anything else went awry from the Theater district that very day. It was only when she reached The Sphere that Octavia finally came to a stop and her eyes traced up over the front of the building and she had to lace her fingers together to keep them from trembling. This would be quick, she would retrieve the shard, and whisk it away from a new location, put it in a new place where no one else would ever find it again. When she had finally steeled herself enough Octavia moved to step forward and that was when an armor clad hand reached out and latched onto her shoulder, not allowing her to move a single step forward as The Knight shifted up, leaning down so that his voice would be nothing more than a whisper. “This is where it’s kept?” “P-pardon?” “The shard, stupid woman.” He hissed. “I, I know not of what you speak.” “Lying is unbefitting of you, shard holder.” There was almost a sinister growl to his voice. “I do not know of wha-” Her shoulder was roughly shoved forward. “We are going to get the shard, and then I am going to destroy it.” “You can’t-” Again he shoved her, cutting off her words. “I wouldn’t continue treating the lady like that.” Came the voice of the monk and instantly the Knight whipped around, eyes narrowing, and teeth becoming clenched as he reached for his sword as the Knight shoved Octavia to the ground and out of the way before he dropped into a battle stance. “If it’s a fight you want, then a fight you’ll get.” The monk rolled his neck then shoulders before stepping back. Perhaps if it had been an exchange between two stubborn macho men things would have been far more simple that night, but for Emillion, the city was never that lucky as monsters seemed to spring up around the men and engage each other in combat without a beat lost. |
