audrey/juliette vs. rafflesia, malboro, air elemental - COMPLETE
Aud leaned away from her sister and towards the wall, the pain consuming her arm as she rested her head back. Exhausted, she forced her eyes open, pushing herself off the wall. Her sister was poisoned and she was getting light headed. An entire family would not be wiped out. Not today. “Cormac’s office is over there. We can make it.” Audrey stumbled forth, her good arm reaching for the wall to support herself. “Please,” her voice cracked.
Juliette couldn’t understand exactly what had happened. Her head was pounding -- then it was cold -- then there was another monster, but it seemed to be hostile only to their enemies (more secrets, but she did not have the mental capacity to think on it further) -- then…
She groaned and tried to stand, too pained to argue, but her leg would not hold her, and with a yelp, she fell again. “I can’t,” she said, and to her own ears she sounded young and pathetic (or perhaps it was the poison). “I can’t stand. Why did you -- your arm. You need a mage.”
Why had she helped her? Why hadn’t she just left her? Why was Alys looking at her with such distress?
"I'm going to crouch down, hook your arm around my neck," she could do it, she thought. After all Fumiya had put her through, Audrey could surely do it. As soon as the girl had grabbed her, she hoisted them both up with much trouble and had begun dragging down the street to the only place she knew to get help.
“You could have left me.” The words were soft, almost delirious. “Why didn’t --”
And that was all she could or would say before consciousness chose to flee. Juliette would not recall the rest of the slow, arduous journey to the clinic -- nor realize, until later, just how hard her sister had worked to get her to safety.
