An ancient city was said to sleep within the depths of Nargai. They would soon find out how true these rumours were, though the unearthing of this artifact (the vagueness was worrisome) seemed to imply it was more accurate than not. Violet Black stood at the head of three men and two women, leading their way into the craggy pass. They travelled efficiently, carrying their supplies and equipment and setting up camp for the night, then pulling up their tents the next morning and continuing into the Nargai Peaks. The mountains were hard-going but not as inhospitable as Mt. Bur-Omisace; the beautiful, crisp blue sky over the mountain range kept spirits high as the air thinned and grew colder. The first sign of concern was the outpost they passed; it was abandoned and empty, the people gone, just like it said in the Hauptmann’s report. A check of Sauvage’s bestiary revealed that coeurls and red panthers were common in these mountains, haunting the mist-shrouded ruins and crumbled former temples. They’d have to find their way through the grey mist and locate the artefact where the monsters congregated, and then bring it back safely. But regardless, they were ready for their task. |
