Who: Krissy & Open (or can serve as a narrative)
What: Keeping guard
When: Monday evening
Where: Sentry tower
Warnings: Nope but TBA if necessary
There was an energy running through Krissy that didn't allow her to stay still. It wasn't anger, and it wasn't anxiousness. She felt fine. This wasn't the virus, or a variation of it. This was just her needing to find something to do, because staying still wasn't an option.
For half a second she contemplated putting up a post and asking if someone wanted to spar. Maybe go shooting. Maybe Allison was bored, or Molly needed something to do, or Abigail needed company, or Lydia wanted to talk. It shocked her for a moment the number of people she could contact to ask if they wanted to just hang out, but even if if was a pleasant surprise she kept herself from reaching into her phone. What if she was a carrier of the virus? She didn't want to contaminate anyone, and how did the group activities work now, anyway? Was it okay for large groups to hang out, considering it could mean higher risk of exposure? Should people keep themselves isolated as a precaution, too? Krissy found her mind wandering away from her and, before it could get away completely, she grabbed her backpack, gun, shotgun and ammo, and went out in search of a sentry tower to go to. Her shift was coming up anyway, so showing up early wouldn't be a big deal. Pietro didn't seem to think so, anyway, even if he wasn't much of a talker. Which was fine with her; as much as Krissy could throw her attitude around like it was the most normal thing in the world, she could also mold herself sometimes to adapt to whatever situation there was at hand. If Pietro didn't feel like talking, they didn't have to talk.
It did allow her mind to wander, though. She wondered for a moment what would have happened if she and Will would have kept driving to Canada. Would they be facing this virus, too? Would they be safer? Will would have been, and sometimes that was all that mattered. That was all that would spring to mind, weighing down her conscience to the point that she could feel it in the pit of her stomach. What if Reid would have done what Rachel had done to Quinn and shot Will? The thought had been creeping in the back of her head all day, taunting her whenever she'd let her guard down, and now it took her by surprise. She knew Reid was affected by the virus, that he wasn't himself, but if something would have happened to Will...
"You alright, kid?"
Blinking up at Pietro, Krissy nodded as the soldier mode came on. Because right now there was no time to dwell on what-ifs. There was no time to wonder if this was where they should be, because they were here, and Krissy would fight tooth and nail for the prison if necessary. She would do what she could to protect her loved ones, the ones that she now realized were more than she had actually fully realized, and the good little hunter mode slipped on like a second skin. Because, no matter how much she knew Will hoped she could be just a normal sixteen year old, there was nothing normal about her and that was okay with her. Right now there wasn't much she could do, but if helping out in sentry was all, then she'd do it. No questions asked.
By the time Pietro left it was already dark, but Krissy just settled in her tower and kept an eye out for anything that could be considered out of the ordinary. Outside of the prison, inside, in one of the towers - it didn't matter. There was no battle to fight out beyond the gate. There were no monsters, no hell gods, no leviathans, but she'd be vigilant as if they were anyway. It was what a good hunter would do, after all.
