Who: Cecilia, Neptune, and open! Multiples okay!
When: half past armageddon 4 AM
Where: Her room/Halls/Foyer
The noise had been terrible. Mind still heavy from sleep, Cecilia had been only vaguely aware of Neptune howling and shaking at her side. She'd taken her hands down from her ears, wincing from the pain, wrapped her arms around the dog and curled up under the covers in a protective ball around him. Her ears were ringing, and she felt vaguely dizzy and disoriented. She was scared and confused, and those feelings didn't go away even once the noise stopped. She was still, even as Neptune whined and licked her face.
Then the second noise started. She didn't know what it was at first and she braced herself for another blast, but then Neptune's ears perked and he struggled to get away. He started barking and running around the room, always coming back to the window. His fur was on end, tail down. Cecilia knew something was wrong, and was only just figuring out the second sound was the birds as she scrambled out of bed.
She heard a single thud against the side of the house, and was debating going to the window to see what it had been. In the next instant a small black shape slammed through the window. It was bedlam, blood and glass and feathers everywhere. Cecilia was vaguely aware of the fact that she had screamed, but Neptune had started to charge for the bird and she grabbed him by the collar. There was another thud on the side of the house. Cecilia had only two coherent thoughts; one, that she needed to get Neptune away from the mess, and two, that she needed to get the hell away from the windows. She let out another surprised scream as a second bird hit her window, and that was that. She kept a firm hold of Neptune and ran for the door, not even bothering to lock it behind her. She didn't stop running until she was down the hall and into the foyer, where she finally released her death grip on Neptune and tried to remember how to breathe. That last part wasn't working so well for her.
