Who: Kiley and Chase When: After this Where: Kitchen, then out on the back deck
Chase couldn't really remember the last time he'd actually cooked anything more complicated than opening a can or a frozen tray, and heating it up in the microwave. Well, there had been multiple cans of chili, and a few times he'd even put together a grilled cheese sandwich, but that wasn't much better. And....well, technically he wasn't making anything fancy even now, but each component, the sauce, the noodles, the sausage, all required separate containers to cook in. So, it counted. He wasn't Jack, but he'd made this enough times to know that it would come out good, and that was all that mattered. Well, it was one of the things that mattered. He also sort of got a kick out of the fact that he actually got a chance to cook for Kiley, despite the fact that they'd already had a mostly nice meal together with the sandwiches on the top of the tower. But, that was before, and they'd...sort of...been on a job.
He made it into the kitchen first, pausing momentarily just outside of the doorway to listen down the hall for evidence of the dog, then continued on. He immediately went hunting around for the pans he'd need, and made sure to keep track of where he'd gotten each one from. The last thing he wanted was for Jack, or someone else who cooked (because other people did that, probably) to not find what they needed. The larger pot he filled with water and threw onto the back of the stove to heat up, knowing that would take the longest, then the smaller sauce pan and the frying pan he left sitting on cool burners for now. There were only a few ingredients he needed, the best jar of sauce he could find in the cupboard, the pasta, salt and pepper, parm, bread, butter, and the sausage.
He hovered for a second, looking at the ingredients, and wondered if he could get away with making garlic bread. Did he remember how to do that? He glanced thoughtfully up at the ceiling, as if it could tell him exactly how to do it, then preheated the oven, turning to locate garlic powder and adding it to the pile, and heading toward the fridge again to locate some mozzarella cheese.
