I may have unofficially adopted a forty year old man.
There it is. Things seemed way too normal, relatively speaking. So uh who's this man? Is he an orphan, or?
I don't think he's an orphan. He's got too fancy ass of a real name to not come from money, but I haven't actually asked. But he's also a bard. And it definitely started as me teaching him how to actually use magic cause for some reason he didn't know how. But he's a good kid. And he needed some support since the people he knew who were here were... painfully inconsistent. And sometimes actively cruel.
(Fancy people can be orphans. Look at Percy.)Another bard! Good news for music lovers then I guess? That's really sad to hear, about the people he knew. That's a bummer. I wanna meet him, and become his friend. And then, if those people mess with him, they'll have to mess with me too.
I mean, that's fair. But he doesn't seem like the kind of person with that much trauma. Still. I guess a brave face can hide a lot of things.Honestly! Don't tell him I said this, but he might actually be better than me. His composition and lyrical insight is pretty spectacular. And yeah. It's not great. One of them just got back here, and I'm really proud of him for setting boundaries there. Even if the guy can't seem to take a hint and leave him the fuck alone. But you know how ex's can be.
You know it can. Things aren't as they seem sometimes. And neither are people.I can't believe you're admitting someone's a better bard than you. He must be really something. Can't wait to hear him play.Well, like I said. If he needs a reminder of how boundaries work, we'll remind him.
That's fair. I guess I could ask? It's not like I'm going to make him talk about it if he's not comfortable with it.It's a rare thing to find. Kaylie's getting there. But she's got a few years yet to catch up. But this one doesn't need a hand at the song writing. Even if he might be convinced that he sucks.Gods, I love you.
I don't think you should ask. But if it ever happens to tumble out of him, listen.I can't wait to hear you play again. I missed your music. But if he's convinced he sucks, we should unconvince him. He can't have caught your eye and not be amazing. I love you too, Scanlan.
That's how I've been playing it. He kept a lot of stuff pretty damn close to the vest to begin with, but he's been getting better about actually asking for help when he needs it. I'm sure if it comes up, it'll be when he'll actually need to talk about it.I'm sure we could talk the owners of the Pour Judgment into having a Bard Night. They've got one of their own so I'd make an interesting mix of sounds.Do you want me to come help get you set-up? The rooms are pretty well stocked, but there might be some other things you need.
