WHO: Velma & Steve
WHERE: The Library
WHEN: After This
WHAT: Talking to Velma about Bucky Barnes, possession and ghosts.
WARNINGS: None
Steve was frustrated with himself, more than anything. Being at such as loss as to what do or how to help people infuriated him the same way that a complicated algebra equation might infuriate someone how just can't grasp the concept. He'd felt much the same way when he'd first woken up in New York City after being on ice for sixty years. He was out of his time, out of place and unsure how to proceed into the great unknown.
This time, at least, he had a touchstone. Bucky Barnes had come through with him, and as lost as they both were, they were at least lost together. Being with his best friend at least made it easier. But when the nightmares, and then the possessions had swept through the city Rogers hadn't be able to help Barnes from being taken. He'd had to once again fight to subdue his best friend and it was hard. It was hard to find the will or the strength to fight Bucky again when it had taken so much out of him the first time.
And he felt like he needed to do everything he could to make sure nothing like that ever happened again. Not only for Bucky's sake, but because he wasn't sure if he could best him a third time. He wasn't sure he'd want to, and knowing what Buck was capable of, he almost didn't believe that anyone else was capable.
When Velma had been adament that she knew about ghosts and possessions; when she hadn't seemed all that phased by her surroundings, it felt to Steve like a good sign and that she might be the right person to talk to, so he'd scoped out a spot in the library and invited her for a conversation. He sat at a table now, waiting for her, with a stack of stale books to his left and a copy of Poe's poems cracked open in front of him.
