Rogers had to stop himself from standing up to greet her. He'd been in the 21st century long enough to know that things had changed, etiquette and manners had changed, but he hadn't been a member of the modern world long enough to break all his habits. Standing until the woman you were with sat down was one such habit. As was getting up to pull out her chair; under the circumstances however that all seemed inappropriate. Instead he just offered her an honest smile and held out his hand as a greeting.
"And it's nice to meet you, Velma. I wish it could be under better circumstances." Then again, Rogers supposed he'd met all of the people who proved to be his greatest friends under less than ideal conditions. He'd met Bucky when some bigger kids were beating his chest in, trying to make him wheeze funny because of his asthma. He'd met Peggy Carter in the middle of a war. Maybe that was just the kind of luck Steve had, or maybe it proved that there were just good people everywhere, who remained good no matter how bad things became.
"So you mentioned about having some experience with ghosts and mysteries. Haunting." Steve shook his head. "I have to be honest, I didn't ever put much stock in stories about the supernatural until I got to this place; saw what I have first had. I don't think I'm skeptical, really. It's just a lot to take in that's a whole lot different. Than what I'm used to."
But then, he was used to Nazis who peeled off their faces to reveal they had a giant red skull for a head, so his concept of the realm of possibility was a little skewed.
