Alfie was actually a little surprised that Julien had let himself be talked in to spending an afternoon not doing anything, but Julien had agreed to meet him, so after lunch he came out into the main hall and looked around for him. When he saw him, he grinned, coming up to bump his arm, and then saying hello quickly before he started out toward the main doors and onto the grounds.

He walked fast, he didn't really want to give Julien time to change his mind.

"I think you'll like this as much as the daydreams, you know?" He said as he walked, heading toward the small hut that used to be Hagrid's there on the edge of the Forbidden Forest. "When you're all full from lunch, and have hours just in the warm sun to lay around with nothing else to do?" Granted, he tended to do that same thing a lot more than was probably good for him, and his grades always suffered, but spending time just relaxing with friends was more important, at least to Alfie. Especially after the weird week he'd had before.

	"I don't know." Julien answered, shaking his head and immediately blushing a little bit because he'd just revealed that he'd never kissed a girl before. He didn't think Alfie would rag him about it though. At least he hoped Alfie wouldn't. "S-so you wouldn't go out with her again?" he asked quickly. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Alfie turned his head and opened one eye so he could look at Julien. Most blokes wouldn't just admit it like that.. but why did he feel so relieved that Julien had? Or that Julien hadn't, really. "No. Not her," He answered, and something made him want to watch Julien's reaction. "No really any girls right now I think I want to ask out." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Julien looked away faux-casually as Alfie looked over at him, red with embarassment but trying to ignore it.

The way Alfie answered him immediately made him want to ask 'if not her, then who?' but he clamped down on that part of him and bundled it into a closet, locking the door behind him.

"Oh..." he said. He wasn't quite sure how to react to that because he wasn't quite sure how he felt. And why should he feel anything anyway? "Just not bothered at the moment?" he asked and wishing that they'd slipped into another line of conversation.

	"Yeah..." Julien said, picking at the grass bundles. "I don't like any girls right now either." He didn't like any girls at all; work consumed too much of his life for him to even spend time looking at girls. He didn't think about the fact that he'd made time for Alfie. 	"Yeah?" Alfie suddenly felt something in the back of his throat that was like a question he really, really knew he shouldn't ask. He swallowed it back and looked away from Julien's turned away face, down to his hands. He had nice hands - long fingers, picking at grass. Somehow, even that seemed intimate, suddenly. 	"Yeah, like... studying and all that, you know. I don't like any girls anyway so it's not... not really a problem. 	Alfie felt himself blushing, and for the life of him he couldn't figure out why. Except, it was also nice - Julien made time to hang about with him, but not for dates, and somehow Alfie liked knowing that. "Well, I don't... really have that sort of excuse." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Alfie found himself taking a breath deeper than he meant to, and letting it slowly. He wasn't sure why he was suddenly so ill at ease when this had been so comfortabl before - or why he felt so disappointed, really. "Yeah. There's always time for that later." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"When you find the right person." Julien agreed, nodding. "Instead of just going with anyone just because there's nothing else to do." and then he got down off his soapbox and left the grass pile alone, pillowing his head in his arms. "The right person," Alfie echoed, and he sounded a little disbelieving at that. He could think of a lot of girls he knew - but none of them seemed that right. Not like that, anyway.

But Julien changed the subject, and Alfie sighed and then grinned at him again, dropping his head back against his hands and shutting his eyes up at the sun. "It's not like them. It's better."
