WHO: Gretchen Watkins, Verity Weasley & Trevor Scabior
WHAT: Gretch and Verity bump into each other in the morning
WHERE: Gretch and Trevor's house
WHEN: the morning after this
WARNING/RATING/STATUS: Post sexing imagery and bacon contained within, no kids or jews allowed/PG13?/Ongoing

The smell of bacon wasn't one that woke Gretchen often. Trevor wasn't inclined to cook and the people they brought home weren't invited to stay long enough to make a fry up. Food was left to Gretchen, or the multitude of often used takeaway menus that were littered about their kitchen. The delicious bacon-y scent roused Gretch from a deep sleep and she let out a little noise, smiling slightly at the feel of Trevor's arms around her. She moved closer to him, making herself comfortable against his lanky form, taking stock of herself for a moment. She was sore and achy, but a good sore, the kind that came after a night very well spent.

Not that she'd thought it was Trevor down in the kitchen, cooking, but the fact that he was here confused her. "Trev," she croaked, her throat raspy from overuse the previous night. He grunted and tightened his hold on her but made no other indication that he'd heard her, still dead asleep.

If it wasn't Trevor down in the kitchen, who the hell was it? Reluctantly slipping out of Trev's arms and rolling her eyes as he twisted over and cocooned himself further under the blankets, she searched briefly for clothes before snagging a shirt of his from where it had been tossed over the footboard at some point last night. Buttoning it up, she managed to locate her underwear (dangling on the edge of the mirror above the dresser) and two different coloured socks.

It wasn't until she was halfway down the stairs that she remembered that Trevor's nosy cousin had spent the night and she relaxed, slipping silently into the kitchen and watching Verity for a few moments before the other woman noticed she was there.

"Eeexactly," Gretchen snapped her fingers and took another long swig of coffee, feeling decidedly chipper. "Let him scrounge for his own food. 'e never cooks for me, the ungrateful sod." She pursed her lips slightly, swirling her coffee in its mug, not having meant to copy Trevor's speech pattern.

There was a noise in the hall and Gretchen twisted slightly, her lips curving into a smile, but it was just Keg, shuffling into the kitchen and jumping up to put his front paws on her leg. She skritched behind his ears and ignored his mournful look for as long as she could before she set her coffee cup down and stood to feed him.

"Merlin, dog," she muttered as he hurried after her, his tiny tail wagging fiercely. "Why don't you go wake your master up to feed you?" she asked as she tugged his food down and spilled it into his bowl. He pushed past her to gobble the food down and she returned the bag to its place, snagging a strip of bacon as she crossed back to the table. "How come you're here, anyway?" she asked, the words coming out before she could stop herself from asking them. "Not that I mind free breakfast, but I didn't think Trev was a popular person in your household."

"I..." Verity watched Gretchen move around the kitchen and frowned. The redhead didn't need to know her business, but she couldn't stop at least some of the story from spilling out. "We had a fight. About Trevor."

She turned away from Gretchen and poked at the egg cooking in the pan. "I didn't have anywhere else to go," she pursed her lips together to keep from making a sad noise, then stopped and turned back to Gretchen, her brow furrowed. "Hey, how come Trevor has guards on his house?"

Settling back in her chair, Gretchen took a long sip of her coffee, finishing and studying the bottom of her cup mournfully. She opened her mouth to ask about the fight about Trevor, when Verity interrupted her with a question. "Guards?" she echoed, getting up to refill her cup. "Why not?"

She added sugar to this cup, and a little splash of milk, then sat back down again, shaking her head mentally and wondering where Trevor was. "We don't like to be bothered."

The aroma of bacon drifted further upstairs, permeating the bedroom and finally reaching a level that would rouse even Trevor. His eyes opened slowly and looked around, taking a moment for his brain to get up to speed. The bacon, that was obviously Verity, and Gretchen...he let himself settle back against the pillow for a moment and grinned, recalling the past several hours. That was almost worth getting as disgruntled as he had been about how she handled everything. Almost.

Grunting softly, he ran a hand through his hair and started struggling out of the twisted blanket cocoon he'd made. He looked around on the floor and eventually located his trousers behind a chair, pulled them on and followed the delicious scent of bacon. "FUCK!" He stubbed his toe on the bed frame as he passed and squawked loudly, hopping place as he waited for the sudden pain to ebb. "Fuck!"

At the muffled sound of Trevor's shout, Gretchen was on her feet, before she even realised she was standing. Although logically, she knew it couldn't be anything too bad, the wards hadn't gone off and they would have if someone had gotten in, her heart was in her throat and all she could think of was Carrow.

"Stay here," she pointed at Verity and moved out of the room. "Trev?" she called in a forcedly casual voice, silently climbing the stairs and wishing she'd grabbed her wand on the way down. "Alright?"

"Yeah," Trevor called back, hissing at the throbbing sensation. He fell back onto the bed and rubbed his foot, muttering another curse. "I'm fine," he bellowed again, grabbing his wand from the bed side and courageously continued out into the hall, injured foot and all.

Gretchen's knees went a little weak with relief but she managed to pull herself together before Trevor appeared at the top of the stairs. "Took you long enough," she arched an eyebrow as he started down towards her, resisting the urge to tackle him. "I was about to eat your bacon."

She pursed her lips at him and hopped down the stairs, giving her hips a little extra wiggle just for him. Sliding into the kitchen, she met a confused Verity's eye and shook her head once, before settling back down in her seat and picking up her coffee mug.

Trevor ruffled his hair, still irritated at the bed post, but followed her down the stairs. "Fuckin' post," he elaborated, grinning as he watched her little sway and reached out to slap her arse. "Kicked the fuckin' thing."

Following her into the kitchen, Trevor headed straight for the coffee pot, nodding at Verity as he passed. "All right," he greeted, reaching around her to snag a piece of bacon.

Arching her eyebrows as a half naked Trevor came in, Verity shook her head inwardly. "Forget something?" she asked, gesturing at his chest with the spatula, before grabbing a plate and loading it up for him. "Sleep well?" she asked sweetly, handing him a plate and turning to fix one up for Gretchen.

"Yeah, well enough," he looked down at himself and back at the spatula, shrugging away her question. It was his house and he could wear, or not wear, whatever he liked. Trevor took the plate happily and and sipped his coffee carefully as he moved to the table, taking up a spot beside Gretchen. "You?"

Finishing up Gretchen's plate and her own, Verity carefully carried them to the table. "It was a little... noisy," she responded, settling down across from her cousin and Gretchen, who didn't look ashamed in the slightest. She passed the plate over to the other woman, who took it gratefully and ate silently for a few moments.

"I think I'm going to go home," she said, not looking at Trevor as she spoke.

"Why," he asked casually, in between mouthfuls of egg.

"I don't want to bother you anymore," Verity started, nudging her eggs around on her plate, even though that wasn't the real reason. Aside from the noises last night, Trevor hadn't indicated that he didn't want her around. "And I miss Charlie," that was closer to the truth, although not the whole of it.

Shrugging again, Trevor ate his bacon and eggs quickly, enough more famished than he'd realised. And he'd thought he was quite hungry. "We 'ave a flat," he mentioned, pausing for breath and a sip of coffee. "Take that."

"A flat?" Verity stared across the table at her cousin, unable for a moment to understand what he was suggesting. "You mean... leave Fred?" She set her fork down and looked at Trevor, her brows furrowed. "I couldn't."

Trevor used a great bit of will power to keep from rolling his eyes. Luckily for her he was in a particularly good mood. "Running back to 'im right away and takin' a fuckin' break for a few days isn't the same." Merlin. He glanced at Gretchen for support or, what he really wanted, her to take over dealing with the crazy so he could do what he was good at, eat bacon.

Gretchen had only half been paying attention to the conversation, the truth was: she really didn't give the slightest shit about Trevor's cousin's domestic drama. Sure, she was well grateful for the breakfast, but aside from that, she had no interest in delving into solving things. She met Trevor's glance, and twisted her lips to the side. She did owe him her life, though.

Resisting the urge to roll her eyes, she twisted slightly, stretching her legs and pressing them against Trev's. "You trust him to watch your kid, yeah?" she spoke up, taking a sip of her coffee. "So take a break for a few days. You're about to pop out another one, you probably deserve a rest. It doesn't have to be anything big and dramatic."

"But it already is," Verity protested, stabbing a slice of bacon angrily. "I walked out on him in the middle of our friends. I can't just take a break for a few days. Not now."

To her horror, she felt tears prickling at her eyes and rubbed them away furiously, stuffing eggs and bacon into her mouth to keep from saying anything else.

"So what's a couple days gonna do?" If she'd already done all the dramatic bits of fighting and running off he didn't see where it really did her in to take some time in going back to deal. "'Cause you look so ready to go back, don't you?"

Verity thought for a moment, picking at her eggs, sadly. "You really just... have a flat where I could stay?" She looked back and forth between Trevor and Gretchen, wonderingly. "I'd need clothes..." she trailed off, glancing at Trevor's friend, beseechingly.

Arching an eyebrow, Gretchen looked across the table at Verity. "I'm sure there are shops open," she started, then stopped herself. "Although..." she grinned wickedly and nudged Trevor broadly, kicking her legs up into his lap. "Actually, I think I won't be needing those clothes. Feel free to take 'em."

Pulling a face, Verity shook her head, watching her cousin match his partner's grin and absently stroke his fingers up her leg. She couldn't decide if she was disgusted by the thought of her cousin having sex or heartened by the way he was looking at Gretchen. After a moment, she let out a sigh. "You two are adorable."

"What," Trevor jerked his head, looking away from Gretchen to stare at Verity as if she'd said the most insane thing in the world. Which, of course, she had. "Bollocks," he muttered, and turned back to the last few bites of egg he had on his plate. He considered shoving Gretchen's feet off his lap, just to prove a point, but left there where they were.

Leaning back in her chair, Gretchen grinned widely at Trevor. "Hey now," she protested, running a hand through her mussed hair. "I'm fucking adorable, your cousin is just speaking the truth." Grabbing her mug of coffee, she blew him a kiss before taking a sip.

"Whatever," Trevor rolled his eyes at Gretch's assertion, but smirked anyway. He took a last bite of breakfast and shoved the plate away, watching Verity for a moment before digging into his pocket for his wand. "The flat's in London," he explained, waving the wand lazily. "Islington." From the living room something small and shiny flew toward Trevor's open hand, glinting as the light hit it on it's way past. He caught it easily and flipped it toward his cousin promptly. "That'll get you past the wards. Take your time." He shrugged and added, "Or not." It was her problem, not his.
