Emma Z. Dobbs ([info]emifyouplease) wrote in [info]wished,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Emma Dobbs and Kirley McCormack-Duke
When: Wednesday at eight
Where: Memorial Park and then a karaoke bar?
What: Kirley takes her out on an actual date!
Rating: Pg-13? Maybe more? Idk.
Open/Closed: Open to Kirley.

She was nervous about doing it if only because his opinion suddenly mattered more than anyone she had ever known. She could care less what her Mum thought, didn't give a fig about those she thought less of and she only sort of cared about what her friends thought, but Kirley?
Kirley was in a whole other league! If he hated it she would charm it back instantly and Emma hardly did that for anyone, let alone a boy!

Her hair had been charmed red once more and this time she achieved a much deeper shade of it, a far better cry than when she had tried to copy Ron Weasley's color. Another charm curled the ruby locks and yet another had her eyes charmed the color of sapphires. The dress she wore was a major step up from the outfit she wore at work, too, and even better than what she had worn the first day they met. A bright blue, pin-up style dress that was a bit of a bank breaker but she loved it too much to not have it.

Anxiously she paced before the bench where they met, heart thumping madly. What if he didn't like it? What if he... she sighed, turned on her heels and stopped dead when she saw him.

"Oh. Hello."

Merlin's fucking beard why in Godric's name was he so incredibly HANDSOME? She had to be the luckiest damned witch in the entire effing world! Her hand lifted to her chest and her fingertips grazed over her heart then settled on the small necklace she wore. Nervously she played with the charm of a songbird as he approached and then (oh HELGA) grinned.

Even as disheveled as he looked he also looked put together and she simply could not help it. Emma lowered her hand and marched right up to that wizard and grabbed him by that tie to yank him down to her level.

"Hello," she managed again before her mouth planted one very hot kiss on his own lips. It lasted but a few seconds and then she let him back and took a step backward, cheeks as red as her hair but a smile very wide on her pretty face.

He was entirely surprised by her sudden state of action. It caught him a bit off guard but he replied in kind to that kiss, very tempted to pull her back in and kiss her all over again once she pulled away. She had that gorgeous flush in her cheeks and that smile that could make a man’s knees weak.

“I have myself one very fiery date it seems,” he teased, touching a lock of her hair, and then letting that hand drop to caress over her wrist and take her hand into his.

“As you well know, I’ve been dying to hear you sing again since that very first time, and by Helga, tonight is the perfect night! I’m taking you to one of my favorite places in the whole world,” he told her, that grin splashing across his features again.

"You certainly did," she winked, feeling only about a million times more confident. She felt prettier than that Warbeck witch that sang all those hit tunes and she was sure Kirley knew her and thought the world of her.

Their hands linked together she turned a bit so they were standing side by side. Should he want to apparate the pair it'd be possible, or if they were walking she was ready or him to lead the way. Her free hand slid over the skirt of her dress and she turned her eyes up to him. His grin... ah, it did wild things to her heart.

And he wanted to hear her sing? She sighed softly, contently and tilted her head. "I'm ready when you are, love."

“We’re going to have to apparate. It’s a bit of a walk from here,” her informed her. Part of him almost wanted to just take up residence on their bench and chat the night away with her. He didn’t want to have to share her with anyone else.

Her little sentiment made his heart turn over...so few people called him that where it actually pulled a reaction from him, but she most certainly did. He held tightly to her as he disapparated, taking her with him to the familiar street.

“It’s just this way,” he said once they gained their bearings, “I hope that you’re going to love it. It’s a little muggle place. I found it a few years ago, and now I’m a regular,” he smiled, tempted to just toss an arm around her shoulders and hold her close while they walked, but he contented himself with holding onto her hand.

He led her up towards a little door that didn’t quite look like much with a sign overhead that read, “Carrington’s Place.” There was soft music playing already, and as soon as he led her through the door, the atmosphere was both soothing and exciting. Friends sat around tables together laughing, and there were a lot of people watching the current girl on the stage who was singing a bit off-key, but no one really cared. A few people called out his name in greeting and he gave a cursory wave. This place felt a bit like home.

The apparation had her feeling a bit dizzy after but she leaned against his side to steady herself. The warmth of his body made her feel particularly content and she probably could have walked all over London with him if her feet didn't ache already from the pumps she wore.

Emma shot him a glance as they walked, head tilting. He didn't look thirty-two and she didn't feel like there was this huge gap of years between them. Merlin, she was sure her mother would notice at once until she mentioned 'rock star' to her.

"Oh it's lovely," she murmured as they stepped in. It felt incredibly welcoming and she tried not to cringe at the girl's singing and when others greeted him she wondered if the muggles knew just how famous he actually was. She watched the girl step down the stage after her piece and she paused to cheer with the others for her, offered a dazzling smile too.

The one thing that Kirley liked best about Carrington's was that no one really knew who he was. He enjoyed his fame, and he loved his fans, but it was nice to have a place where people knew you only because they were a friendly acquaintance and didn't want you to sign their knickers or something ridiculous like that.

He would bet that if he didn't get them now, he would get questions later about Em, just because he'd never brought anyone in with him before. A few people asked if he was going to be playing, and he said he didn't know before cheering along with Em for the girl. But he knew that the beauty on his arm was much better.

"I'll get you up on that stage one way or another before we leave," he teased, holding her close and pressing a kiss to her cheek, "Would you like something to drink?" He began steering her towards an empty table, the one that he most liked to occupy. It was corner booth, and anyone that was a usual knew he liked to linger there.

It wasn't that she was a particularly shy girl but he seemed to keep her more docile than not at times. Had this been any other boy she might have been a louder, hot mess of a thing and honestly, him being who he was she should have, by all means, wanted to impress him more. However, something in her felt like there was no need to impress because he already liked her.

Why else would he take her here? Why else would be openly be affectionate toward her like that? Her cheeks were dusted rose and she took a seat in that booth. She leaned forward on one elbow and gave a soft hum of thought.

"Aye, a stout of some sort would please me," if Emma was one thing it was an advocate for good, dark, muggle beer. "You know it won't take much to get me up there, but I'd only do it if you did first."

Kirley grinned at her and called a few drink orders out at Carrington himself who manned the bar and was actually a good friend of his. He sat there in the opposite end of the booth admiring the young girl in front of him and wondered what would come of this night.

“Ah, but you see I’m so comfortable up there that it doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I’ll even play guitar for you when you sing, if you’d like,” There was a live band there that would play just about anything you wanted, and a sound system if they for some reason didn’t know it. But they were always good about letting Kirley join in on the fun when he wanted. Many had told him he should be professional, and he could only smile wryly.

“Any time you want, love, just give me the word and I’ll be up there.”

"Anything?" she asked curiously, chin propped up on the palm of her hand. She tapped her lower lip and tilted her head slightly as she regarded him and thought of his offer.

"You may not even know some of the songs I want to sing.. maybe they will though," and with that thought she slid out of the booth, pausing to lean down and place a kiss on his cheek.

Then, Emma stepped off toward the stage band and shared a few words with the man who seemed to be the lead guitarist. He nodded when she asked him if he could play the song she was thinking of and then handed over a microphone for her.

Emma sang well, though she was obviously a bit shy about the whole thing. She didn't want to mess this up, not when he was watching her like that.

"Stars shining bright above you..." it was a soulful rendition of Dream a Little Dream and Emma did her best to sing it in the style of the crooning forties. It was only a three minute song and when it ended she quickly handed the mic back to the guitarist and hopped off the stage as the small crowd gathered gave her applause.
