Characters: Maeve Sheridan and Delaney Twilfitt
Setting: Slugs and Jiggers, Monday late afternoon//The Leaky Cauldron and Diagon Alley, Monday evening
Summary: Maeve attempts to have a nice, normal, quiet day at work and Delaney is determined she have otherwise.
Rating: PG, some kissing and awkward flirting.

Staring up at the top of the shelf, Maeve pulled her wand out and waved it in it’s general direction. Two jars on the top floated down to the table gently, directed by her wand. Both were neatly labelled with the ingredient, lacewing flies, and the date they’d started stewing. Maeve carefully removed the lids and surveyed the contents of both containers, deeming them still unripe, and levitated them back to their place. Across the shop she heard the door creak open, admitting what was surely another irritating customer in but she chose to ignore it, surely Susan or someone else was that could save her from suffering that torment twice in one day. She'd already gotten caught that morning and been forced to walk one old biddy through the differences between the Draught of Living Death and a simple Calming Draught.

She shelved away the pickled mandrake she’d brought out in the first place and picked up a few empty phials before heading back for the other side of the shop, more than ready to hide herself away in her tiny workshop for the rest of the day. There weren’t many orders to keep her busy but she had her own solution simmering that had been brewing for two days and wasn’t almost mature. She’d be damned if she was going to let hard work be ruined at this point. Before she could retreat completely she remembered she’d also needed saltpeter shavings and turned back, so surprised to find someone behind her she gasped softly.

Delaney smiled. "Do you... want to go back to the bar? We could talk... we could just drink water, or butterbeer..."

With one last kiss, she pulled back, attempting to regain her composure and control.

"I think we should call it a night," Maeve said, considering the options. She didn't want to upset Delaney, who seemed very caught up in keeping on Maeve's good side so she smiled lightly, hoping she wouldn't take it the wrong way. Maeve had enjoyed the other woman's company and was interested in seeing her again, she just wasn't sure in what context yet. She had a lot to think through and the night had probably been one of the fullest she'd had in a long, long time.

Unable to keep the disappointment from her face, Delaney attempted to smile anyway. "I think that's probably a good idea," she agreed reluctantly. "I had a good time, though. I hope you did, too?"

Realizing she didn't know where the other woman lived, she supposed offering to see her home would be stupid. Maeve would probably apparate there, so to offer to accompany her would just be silly.

"I'll say goodnight then," she said. "And.. when should I come and pick up this elixir for Nico?"

Walking back toward the shop, Maeve stopped when she realised Delaney wasn't following. She considered the dejected expression on her face before she gestured down the alley, indicating the Apothecary's direction. "Walk back with me?" she offered, not sure how she felt about the urge to make Delaney feel better.

She waited for a sign of movement before she turned and continued on. "It would be best to let it stew for a bit, I'd say you can pick it up in five days. But if you need it sooner I could manage that. I'd recommend waiting, however."

Delaney wasn't sure how she felt about the smile that spread across her face when Maeve asked her to walk back with her. She should have felt mortified that she was showing herself up badly. Instead, she just hurried to fall into step with Maeve.

"Five days is fine," she said quickly. "So I'll pick it up on Saturday, yes? Perhaps you'll let me make you dinner. You can bring it over, meet Nico. Completely casual, of course - I just think he might like to meet the person who brews the elixir he's going to be drinking."

"Saturday is fine," Maeve acknowledged, not sure if a family dinner was really something she was up for. "You can pick it up here," she stated again, trying not to sound too dismissive even as she was. She didn't see why she needed to all the way to her place for a purely business transaction. "You can bring him here, if you'd like."

"Okay," Delaney agreed. "Well, goodnight."

She made as if to kiss her goodnight, then thought better of it, choosing to just smile at her, before turning to leave.

Maeve waited, glancing between Delaney and the shop, letting her take the lead. She didn't move in for a kiss and Maeve decided not to try and decide if she felt relieved or let down. "Good night. And, thanks." She simply nodded and returned the smile before she pulled out her wand to bring down the wards and let herself in. "For the drinks," she felt the need to add.

"It's okay," Delaney replied. "For the drinks, I mean."

She got two steps away before turning back and walking quickly back to Maeve, kissing her quickly before taking a step back, turning on her heel and disapparating.
