Carnaby Street was a great place to earn a fair amount of cash. All the tourists came to find a little of the cool that used to come from this street that was the cornerstone of Swinging London, and all the locals filed into Liberty for its eclectic fabrics and deco items. Wayne had been playing for a good half an hour, nodding respectfully for every coin that hit his guitar case--usually no more than 50p at a time, though he was grateful for the Americans who were so used to all coins being less than a dollar that they'd throw pound coins down without blinking.
It had been five years since things had fallen apart. Some memories had been creeping back lately, much to his surprise--not of the bad times, but the good, of the two friends whose lives he'd wrecked along with his own. He had chosen to sing Radiohead's "Black Star," which was hauling in more than he'd expected--probably due to that extra bit of emotion he was subconsciously throwing into it, once he'd hit the last verse:
I get on the train and I just stand about now that I don't think of you
I keep falling over I keep passing out when I see a face like you
What am I coming to?
I'm gonna melt down
Blame it on the black star
Blame it on the falling sky
Blame it on the satellite that beams me home
