Eloise's right hand flew to her forehead in exaggerated despair. "Oh, yes! I was so confused when I heard some bloke joking about a 'crystal phallus', or something. And then the next day I completely understood."
She folded one of her legs under her, resting an elbow on the table. The awkwardness was starting to wear off a little. At the very least, she was feeling less uncomfortable. It probably helped that she had been making fast work of her drink on an empty stomach.
"I don't know which has changed more," she added. "They've put a whole new street up in Diagon Alley. I wasn't expecting everything to just freeze in time, but I think I wasn't quite prepared for everything."
