|WHO:| Charlie Weasley | Lavender Brown
|WHEN:| Tuesday, 16 February, afternoon
|WHERE:| On the grounds of Hogwarts, outside, tending to the animals after dismissing his class.
|WHAT:| After teaching a class, for which he usually laid-back (albeit excited about the subject matter), Charlie ends up staying to have a bit of a chat.
|RATING:| G/PG
|STATUS:| In progress | OPEN

He did not dress like a professor. He did not talk much like a professor. He did not keep to his syllabus much at all like a professor, nor did he have too much of an agenda like a professor.

Charlie was not much of a professor at all.

Preferring to think his students at least thought good of him, Charlie understood they had their minds on other things, in other classes, or no interest in his class whatsoever. There were plenty of classes Charlie did not care for much at all, but he still put forth a lot of effort, refraining from holding his students to the same standard he held himself (he would not think that fair, at any rate).

"Right!" he said, catching everyone's attention after a lesson outside with an Aethonan (a popular breed of winged horses in Britain and Ireland) that some students seemed to actually like very much, "class dismissed, but stick around with me if you want to help me tend to them. And, remember, I want some of you to get stung by a Billywig next class, but purely a volunteer thing. I'll do it myself as well. It's safe, and just something absolutely related to nothing we're doing this year. Cheers!"

Watching as the students began to leave and walk across the grounds, he could not help but feel slightly nervous during his lessons and a bit worried that he was worse than he thought. At least students did make the effort to talk to him. Charlie was not, in his opinion, the least bit intimidating and thought of himself as approachable considering how relaxed an atmosphere he kept his classes. Even so, he could not help think about what his students' opinions were about him and his class.

Winged horses, Merlin had class been brilliant! Care of Magical Creatures had to be one of Lavender's favorite classes, next to Divination of course. While she didn't like getting dirty too much, she was fearless. Lavender loved animals, and animals usually took a keen liking to her. As Professor Weasley dismissed the class, a lot of her fellow students immediately dashed off to the castle, but Lavender lingered a bit. One winged horse in particular liked nuzzling against her neck, and every time she tried to take a step back, and horse would take two steps forward and nuzzle her again.

Giggling, a hand raised to brush through the chestnut mane of the creature. "You know, I can't stand here forever. I understand you like the apple scent of my hair, but this relationship can't last. You're a horse, I'm a girl." The Aethonan just made a noise and remained glued to her side.

"You know, Professor Weasley, I don't think there is a rule against keeping horses in the common room, is there?" Giggling again, bright brown eyes darted to look over at the professor, before back at the Aethonan. "I have to give you credit, sir, out of all the professors who have ever taken up this job, you seem to do it with more ease than them." Giggling again as the horse nuzzling a bit more forcefully against her hair, Lavender began to pry herself away from the Aethonan only to have the creature try and nuzzle her once more.

"By the by, as long as you promise that I won't get hurt by a Billywig, I'll volunteer to get stung." A bright smile flashed over her face, as she tried to shake her blonde hair out of her face only for it to fall in her gaze as the Aethonan nudged her again.

Considering the classification of the horse (XXX according to the Ministry: only competent wizards should cope), and that Charlie had asked his students not to get too close, he was very hesitant to let the horse get close. "All right," he said, placing one hand on the horse's shoulder, "let's leave Lavender alone," he said, slightly annoyed the horse behaved that way. It seemed out of place, but this particular horse had been around enough witches and wizards that it may have, in a sense, 'forgotten' it was not completely harmless. Still, Charlie had a tough time wondering why the horse reacted that way.

It took a lot to get that horse for lessons, and it had to be returned to the Ministry by the week's end—an official would be coming for it, he assumed.

"Thank you, Lavender, but I'm sure all prior professors have done a wonderful job teaching this class," he said, distracted with the horse as he got it back where it needed to be: away from people and where students could not access it. His sleeves were pushed up and he caught a glimpse of the Norwegian Ridgeback tattoo on his left forearm, instantly reminded of Hagrid. "And being stung by a Billywig doesn't hurt. The only problem is that there can be a severe allergic reaction or permanent hovering or 'flying.'" I've been stung," he sighed, "but only as a result of my brothers. Apparently I wasn't smiling enough for them, so they stung me," he said with a bit of a laugh. "And you can call me Charlie, Lavender. I'm not exactly a proper professor."

He tried to insist the students call him Charlie, but that habit was likely hard to break for some. Either way, he responded. "But, anyway, you stuck around after class. What can I do for you?"
