Who: Abby & Lev
What: Finding their house
When: Early October
Where: Islebury
Rating: PG
Status: In Progress
The house didn’t look that similar to the homes they had seen in Santa Barbara, but Lev still felt just as uneasy about it. It was like they were right back there with the Rattlers lurking around them. He had to remind himself this place was safe. It did help that this was the cleanest house he had even been in... there was even a room with a big bed and a poster of shark facts on the wall. Lev would have loved it under different circumstances. Instead, he eyed the window that was too close to the bed and the door that was too far away. He and Abby had taken their time investigating their new home, and Lev still hadn’t put down his bow even walking between rooms. If demons – infected – were going to pop out at them, he wanted to be ready for it. But they weren’t in this particular room. “It’s clear,” he said, voice quiet but carrying through the empty hallway behind him. He was pretty sure Abby had checked the back already, and finally there was some peace of mind that washed over him. No one was here. The neighbors must have thought he looked pretty stupid if they’d noticed him and Abby treating the house like it was going to burst into flames at any moment. It was more important to be cautious after everything they’d been through. “The note said we’d have what we need,” he mentioned, lowering his weapon. “I thought that just meant we wouldn’t be chased.” He glanced back into the room he’d cleared. There were books on the shelf, a closet half filled with boy’s clothes. Neither of them were in the best shape after escaping the Rattlers, and maybe that was why they’d been given so much. Whoever the leader was in Winterdale – this person wanted to take care of them. He glanced back in Abby’s direction, and tried not to look hopeful about staying. They had a home, maybe. Or a temporary one. “What’s in the other bedroom?” |
