This wasn't working.

Meredith's instruction had helped, sure, but Jude still wasn't sure he was cut out for this. While the control part was getting better, sure, it was more than a little off-kilter. He could make the flames go away, but he couldn't seem to control when they made their appearances. It just happened, randomly, and he was having trouble dealing with it all. Already he'd scorched the curtains of his makeshift home, and he'd lost at least two of his stash of blankets. He'd just finished spreading a fresh one on the bare floorboards, brushing his hair out of his eyes. Des had gone off on a trip, though where, Jude couldn't even remember right then. All that mattered was that he would be home in a few days, and then he'd figure out how to stop the fire.

There had to be a way.
