It was an extraordinarily gorgeous day even for fake New New York. The Master and Doctor had taken over a corner of Central Park to try to gather together cricket teams, from visitors or natives, whoever knew or was willing to learn the basic rules and play. Captaining opposing teams, of course. The easy banter back and forth indicated high, good spirits.

"Same as Koschei," he said very gently.

Her expression tightened a little. "Indeed. And the Doctor."

She gave Mitchell a rueful smile. "Your sympathy is appreciated, Mitchell. My planet is not gone...yet."

"I know. Still.. A random stranger's ear is always open if you need it in the future," he smiled. "I've been told I'm a good listener."

He paused and changed the subject, "I like your outfit."

She smiled. "Why thank you. I do think it suits me."

A genuine, warm smile at that. "It does, very much so. Suits the cricket theme too. Somehow."

"Does it?" She touched her hat thoughtfully. "It was just what I felt like wearing today."

He nodded, still smiling, "Looks very.. English.. If that even sounds right?"

"I honestly don't know," she admitted.

"I think that's wise," he smiled. "Think I'll do the same. 'Sides, it's umm.. a little bright for me out on the.. the.. I want to say pitch, is that right?"

He took off his sunglasses slowly, folding them into a pocket. "Yeah, pitch," he said, deliberately misinterpreting her question.

She was honestly asking about the pitch. "I wonder where all these terms came from."

"Who the hell knows? I mean cricket is just *weird*. Creases, silly mid-ons, sticky wickets, and full tosses. I mean, come *on*," he laughed.

Her lips twitched. "Quite. It sounds the sort of silly and idiosyncratic the Doctor enjoys. Which is, I suppose, why this game is happening."
