Theta was yawning, holding a bear by the foot and wearing a Victorian era sleeping shirt, cut down to his size. It was early in the morning and that was probably the excuse for his attire, if not for the way he climbed onto a lap in the hotel restaurant, yawning and asking, "Can I have coffee?"

Koschei had found himself in a dining room instead of his own small room, and had sat down in a bit of a daze - this place didn't have the same sense of time as where he'd been. More like home.

He hadn't even been quite aware he'd sat down until a child climbed into his lap, and he glanced down, his eyebrows climbing towards his hair. "If you react like your more recent regenerations, I'd say no. It's hard enough to keep up with a caffeinated Theta when he's an adult."

He lifted one hand to rub at his temple, wondering what had happened to him. He had to find his Theta, and possibly Romana. And lock the memories of the place away, forget about those blasted creatures that Romana had so desperately wanted the help of.

"Tea then?" Theta leaned against Koschei, waving over a waiter. "You need something to eat."

"Probably." Koschei looked up at the waiter, pausing a moment before asking for, "Ah... a pot of tea and two cups and an apple turnover." He looked down at Theta again. "What about you, Theta? What do you want to eat?"

"Grilled tomatoes," he asked politely, yawning against Koschei's shoulder, "And a pop."

"No sweets until after you've had real food and some tea," Koschei said automatically, reaching up a hand to stroke Theta's hair back from his face. "Can you tell me when and where I am, Theta? It feels rather like home, but not quite."

"And eggs," he sighed at the server who nodded before wandering off. "We don't know. It's a slow waiting place. Lots of us."

"Interesting. Different regenerations of us, crossing timelines? Or different people?" He looked around the room a moment, studying the architecture.

"Are there humans here, too? It looks like twentieth century Earth architecture," he clarified, flicking his fingers to indicate the room around them.

"Different regenerations. Multiple versions of the same. You're the third of this regeneration. I don't like the beard, by the way."

Koschei lifted an eyebrow. "You don't, do you?" He filed away the information on multiple versions of a regeneration for later. "Well, it is rather new. Made me stand out less where I was." And where he wouldn't go back, not if he could help it.

He smiled at Theta. "Perhaps I could shave it off again while I'm here, hmm?"

"I'd appreciate it. And I'm sure your me does too. I'm sure it makes kissing highly unpleasant," he wrinkled his nose. "Yes, there's a lot of humans here."

Koschei's smile faded a moment at the mention of his Theta. "I'm sure he will, yes," he murmured. "I'm sure he will."

Shaking himself, he smiled again. "Lots of humans, eh? Do you know any of them?"

"Tell me about Jack." Koschei looked up when the waiter set a pot of tea and cups on the table, waiting until it had gone to get their food before pouring the tea into the cups. "Milk and sugar?"

"Nice? That's not very descriptive, Theta." Koschei stirred in the milk and sugar into Theta's cup, adding only a touch of sugar to his own. "Do you know when he comes from? Or what he does with his life?" he prompted, curious.

"Ah." Koschei nodded. "That's good." He took a sip of his tea, nodding a thanks to the waiter when it set two plates down in front of them. "How long have you been here, Theta?"

Koschei made a non-committal noise, picking up his turnover, a blissful smile on his face as he bit into it. He considered Theta's reply while he chewed, following the food with tea before he spoke again. "Three months. Have you been able to leave? Gone home to Gallifrey at all?"

"A younger version of me is here?" Koschei looked surprised a moment. "Or I suppose, was here, since he might have left. Though why he'd leave without you..."

He paused, frowning slightly as he took another bite of his turnover, thinking. "Unless he didn't have a choice. A rather morbid thought, that. Not suitable for the breakfast table, is it?" He smiled brightly.

Much as Koschei hadn't intended to come here. He filed that tidbit of information away. "Has anyone come here that intended to? Or left on purpose?"

Koschei drew in a deep breath, closing his eyes a moment. This wasn't his prison, this wasn't someplace populated by creatures that were supposed to be just a myth created to undermine Rassilon's place in history. There were others here, Theta was sitting at the table with him, he'd mentioned others.

He opened his eyes again, smiling at Theta, though the expression was a bit shaky. "Sorry. I've been... trapped someplace rather less pleasant than this for a while. I'm not doing too well with the concept of being at the mercy of something or someone else."
