Maybe this place ain't so bad. Logan kept the thought to himself as he closed the apartment door. He'd taken the time to shower and change his clothes, as well as making sure Laura had tended to the cat, before he'd made sure to send a couple texts in advance. Despite his dislike of texting, and really of the general concept of conversation, he figured a heads up would be nice. He'd give her twenty minutes, then go knock on her door. The two had set plans to go check the local motorcycle situation and, while Logan still wasn't entirely sure what his night was going to entail, he figured starting out early was better than not. Besides, there was some school function tonight and, with the mishmash of kids who he knew were in this town? Well, he wouldn't have been surprised if something, somehow, managed to call him away. So, yes, earlier was better than later. He'd dressed much like he did every day, simply because he didn't have a whole lot in the way of options. Showing up as nothing more than a skeleton had meant Logan didn't have anything personal on him and, if it hadn't been such a common occurrence in his life, the whole business with the welcoming might have felt awkward for more than just them. Fortunately, they'd been kind enough to point him in the direction of clothes and, now that he had a job, he'd been able to branch out slightly. Today though, it was jeans, boots, shirt, and a vest. Maine, after all, had a way of getting cold in the evening. The walk to Carol's door had been shorter than he originally expected, something Logan found particularly pleasant. It was actually kind of...nice...having so many people he actually liked who lived so close together. Sure, it wasn't exactly the kind of thing he was used to, being so comfy-cozy with everyone like they all lived in a dorm, but it wasn't that uncommon either. It was like his extended visits or stays at the institute, or a one of the various headquarters, only they didn't seem to have the looming threat hanging over them -- even if Logan doubted that would last. For now though, there was knocking to be done, and standing there, waiting. Though, if he knew the woman at all, he likely wouldn't have been waiting long. |
