Getting what she asked for...(open)
Fred smiled as she looked at the office from across the street. It had taken some smaller jobs, very small jobs. The kind of jobs that her superhero/champion friends didn't need to do, but she'd finally gotten the windows replaced. It wasn't easy. It had meant she had to go without a few of her favorite things more often than not. Yet, she did it. The City had probably helped a little by padding her wallet, but she'd at least earned some of the money, right? She was going to need a few more jobs and City financial assistance to get the sign painted back on the windows, and the blinds, and furniture, but she'd do it.

She glanced at Harry's shop, wondering how it was still so close. She wondered for a moment if the building had something to do with it. She considered that smaller movements took more precision, so much so that the City hadn't programmed in the motion of rooms. Then she realized that the Library did tend to move around; patrons or staff putting books back in the wrong place could only account for so much.

The brainy female couldn't hold back the sigh. It was a mix of sadness, wistfulness, excitement, satisfaction, and breathing. The next day she would be installing the butcher paper and the tracks for said butcher paper, but that was tomorrow. As the sun started to set, Fred was feeling restless, only she wasn't sure what to do. It wasn't that she wanted something to happen exactly, only...she did. For a rare and probably dangerous moment, Fred hoped that the City sent someone or something her way.

Fred didn't run for cover. It wasn't who she was. She would help out Dinah as best she could; first she had to find a way to incapacitate one of the men. The odds just didn't seem fair. Sure, Dinah was a superhero, but she didn't have to fight all of them, did she?

Fred barely ducked under a very wide punch. It didn't make any sense why the guy was throwing a punch like that; even Fred could tell it was a bad punch. He would probably be the best one to take out as quickly as possible. Or...

She ducked under and ran for something she hoped would be a definite weapon. It was a nice piece of wood planking, not optimum but it would do in a fix. Now just find the right angle and the right head to hit.

Dinah was aware of Fred's movements, but she was a little bit busy at the moment. She managed to punch another of their opponents, hitting just the right pressure point that the man crumpled to the ground. Dinah whirled and took on the next one.

From what she could tell, Fred had armed herself. A small smile spread across her lips. As much as she had wanted Fred to get to safety, it was good to have someone to fight with.

With one guy down, Fred knew that the others would get taken care of quickly. Actually she hoped they would; she really didn't want to hold up Dinah's busy hero schedule anymore than necessary. It'd been some time since she'd helped with a bad guy, and the last time she had, she'd met a certain mayoral candidate. She didn't let that thought distract her for long.

One of the robbers still standing was coming up to Dinah from what behind, and even if Dinah did have some sort of Black Canary sense - she couldn't have Spidey sense, seeing as she was a bird not an arachnid - Fred wasn't going to take the chance. She stepped up quickly and swung with all her might, adding a bit of a yell for distraction. The hit didn't do much, but it was enough to get the man's attention.

"Oh, hi." Fred smiled sheepishly at the man before swinging again, this time wood came in very strong and possibly jawbreaking contact with the guy. The guy went down. "That's usually when people would say something witty, I know, but that's never been my forte - witty banter fighting."

Dinah finished off the last of the robbers with a well-placed kick and then turned to Fred and gave her an appreciative grin.

"I'd rather have someone who could handle herself than someone who was good with witty banter. Nice improvising," she said with a nod toward the wood plank.

She looked Fred over, searching for any sign of injury.

"Are you okay?"

Fred gave the closest robber a firm swat on the head to make sure he wasn't getting up again. She wasn't going to have any of them get up before the cops arrived if she could help it. She looked up at Dinah and smiled.

"Oh, a few bumps and scrapes, but that's nothing new." She shrugged. "You? Are you okay? And thanks. I'm pretty good with a nice piece of wood. I really know how to work it." Not once did she think of how that could sound.

Dinah knelt and set to work in tying up the robbers. She looked at Fred in response to the comment about being good with wood. If this was Huntress, well they'd both be in a giggles as it would have been an intentionally dirty joke. Since Fred didn't seem to realize what she'd said, Dinah settled for brushing off a slight smile and stood up again.

"I'm fine." She looked a little closer at Fred, making sure she wasn't trying to downplay any injuries.

She picked up her phone and dialed the police to notify them of the robbers. Once that was done, she looked over at Fred again.

"We should probably get out of the way. Let the police do their job."

And avoid any awkward questions that might come if Jennifer wasn't the one to respond to the scene.

"Okay. Though I do live right across the street." Fred looked up and pointed at the building that wasn't there. "Dammit. Mind giving me a ride home? Or do you need to go save more hapless wanderers?" She smiled at her friend, glad that she actually had a female friend again.

"I don't mind walking if you'd rather get on to more superhero-ing." She wasn't being self-deprecating. Fred had been in the City for years now and had gotten quite used to walking everywhere.

Dinah gave Fred a sympathetic look. She hated when things moved around on her too.

"I can give you a ride home," she reassured her. "I was actually finishing up for the night anyway."

Thankfully, her bike was still where she'd left it and she led Fred over to the bike and then retrieved an extra helmet to offer to Fred.
