Down by the Bay of the Hanky Panky (open!)
Hank was… getting used to his bear form. Starting to enjoy it, a little. As soon as he'd found he could shift back and forth the whole thing became much more tolerable. Well, that and rumors has spread that he was not the only one, so maybe it was just the City toying with them as Hannibal suggested it sometimes did.

At nights he went out to the park, strolling around in his bear form and exploring. He liked to sniff out things, then take them to a hiding spot and come back to investigate them when he was human. The comparison between the sets of senses were pleasing, if not a bit useless.

Tonight, though, Hank went to the docks in human form, slipping into and ally and changing out of his clothes, shifting quickly. It was getting easier, the more he did it, and soon a polar bear was sneaking guiltily down to the water.

When he got to the edge he blinked, staring at the water and sniffing it. He almost smiled, though he was a bit nervous. The bear wanted to go in, to see if there was food. The human part of him knew polar bears were great swimmers, he'd studied up on them when he'd first returned to human form, but he was still a bit apprehensive even after deciding to come here.

All it really took was a small frog jumping into the water to his side, and Hank's predatory instincts took over. He lurched forward into a semi-graceful dive into the water, plunging in and finding the water perfectly deep enough for a giant mammal to enter for a swim.

Hank human mind felt a flash of terror as he cannonballed and the water enveloped him; he'd never actually swam before and had never been in water deeper than the shallow baths his mother had given him as a child, but the bear kicked in and knew what to do, plunging down and down and looking around. The moonlight didn't allow for much light, but it was still very clear, and as Hank turned joyfully he felt the polar bear's full appreciation for the world under the surface where his weight and bulk didn't mean so much.

Hank surfaced, taking a deep breath of air before spotting his frog on a rope hanging down into the water, looking disinterested. He went still, then lunged for it, far too slow to catch the slimy creature as it hopped into the water and bolted away, but then again he wasn't really interested in catching it anyway. He couldn't imagine frogs tasted that good raw, whatever the French liked to do with them in the kitchen.

Yes, Hank was a happy polar bear, surfacing and diving and testing how long he could go underwater. As long as no boat ran over him he could see spending the night here.

Hank's ears swiveled, and the scent of woman hit him. He started then turned his head, getting to his feet quickly when he saw who it was.

"Red!" he said, going towards her before stopping. He didn't want to scare her, a giant bear going at a small woman. He stared at her for a moment, then tilted his head. "And the right area is....?"

He then realized she had no idea who he was, so he flopped back and wiggled the toes on his back feet. "I Hank. Y'know. Ah. Pheet Hank." He got back up on all fours and then bear-smiled at her sheepishly.

"Feet Hank?" Baba blinked at this. It was such an odd thing for someone to say, even though it made sense. He was very insecure about them, so of course he'd use them as an identifier. People were so odd sometimes. She walked slowly toward him, wondering what she smelled like now to him.

"Not at the docks, though I'm sure a big bear like you enjoys the water." Her head tilted slightly as she looked at him, her eyes narrowing a little. "How ever did you wind up like this? Let me guess, your adventurous friend?" Baba had no idea honestly, but blaming the woman seemed like a good place to start no matter what.

"The one who likes all sorts of people?" She saw nothing wrong with liking all sorts of people, of course, but there were some sorts that could be more useful than others.

Hank was glad she recognized him. He got a bit closer and then nodded.

"Water.... nice," he looked over at it and shrugged. "Ne'er gone in till now." His mood picked up slightly, though it took him a few moments to understand what she meant by 'adventurous friend'. "A'ny," he said, then shook his head. "No. She's... dunno. I got nicked, whild dog." He didn't like struggling to say 'wolf', but they were dogs anyway, so it all worked out.

He tilted his head and looked at her. "You don't look a lot..." he tried to find a word for surprised, but couldn't think of it. "Ser'hized."

"You've never been in water or just that water?" The crone looked over at the water in question then back at him, as if to say she wouldn't go in that water if she didn't have to. Thankfully, as of yet, she did not have to. "Wild dog. There's a lot of nicks, cuts, and bites going around."

She stepped closer, her hands at her sides. She was now close enough that if he took a swipe at her, he'd probably do a good bit of damage, and piss her the hell off. But, he wouldn't do that, would he?

"Ser'hized?" Her eyes narrowed as she tried to decipher this one. "Ser'hized..." Then she laughed softly. "No, my friend got into a similar predicament, but he wasn't as fortunate as you to get such a fine beastly form. So, I have come across someone who has been altered by the City. Though you'd think that if it was allowing you to talk, for which you are fortunate, it would allow for lips that could pronounce words properly."

The small woman didn't comment on how she was rather accustomed to talking animals, animals who could pronounce words they had no business pronouncing. They did a great many things that some would say they had no business doing.

"Ne'er in any," Hank said, sniffing at it. "Ne'er learned."

He ambled over to the waterside and then back to her, more in the mood to play as he came right up to her and nuzzled her hand. This was completely different than Jesse. He knew this woman, and she was very small. He didn't fear her at all, although...

This close, she smelled.... off. Older than she looked, and with a hint of.... was that death? It certainly wasn't a smell that was nice in any way. No, her scent did not match her appearance at all, although he didn't give it too much thought. He liked Baba, whatever she smelled like. He gave her a toothy grin and backed up a step, gesturing to the water with his head. "Try it, it's nice."

He was a fine beast, wasn't he? Large and fluffy and, if he didn't say so himself, he was rather adorable. Even if he did have trouble pronouncing anything that needed lips.

"Well, you're in just the right form to enjoy it." The crone had batted playfully at him, nothing that even came close to suggesting violence. Her hand lifted to rub a little between his eyes and ears before he backed up.

"You want me, to get in there? Are you sure you're just a sweet innocent polar bear, Mr. Henry?" She laughed, shaking her head. Well, the boy certainly seemed more outgoing in this form. Perhaps what he needed was a little more beast in him; perhaps he was all too stuck in his head and needed to be more in his body.

"There's nothing in there that would get a little thing like me, is there?" She took a few steps to the water. The last time she'd been near an amount of water that was more than a hot tub full had been a particular swimming pool she did not like thinking about. "I have to say I'm a little afraid of the water." Thankfully she wasn't the kind that melted when hit by water, pathetic excuses for witches those were.

He leaned into the touch- it did feel nice after all. When she asked him about the water he nodded quickly.

"Nothing dangerrus," he said, moving to be by her side. "I can hel't your in the whater." He thought it might be funny for somebody to see a little woman like Baba riding a swimming polar bear.

"There's toads though," he thought it pertinent to let her know. Some women hated frogs, although she didn't remind him of one. She didn't seem to have much of an issue with animals.

"You can ....help in the water?" Baba continued to rub and play with the polar bear hair, petting it softly or maybe giving the tiniest of tugs. He was a big teddy bear after all, then she had to giggle at his little announcement.

"Toads? Really? That's..." Well, it was interesting to know. Knowing where the fresh toads were could be very useful. "Good to know. I suppose if you're in there, I would be okay. As long as you don't forget I'm not something for you to nibble on." She looked worried for only a moment before laughing and leaning against him.

"Okay, Henry." She slipped off the sandals and started to gather up her skirt to pull her dress up and over her head. Yes, imagine how it would look for a slightly underdressed Baba to ride a swimming polar bear...

He muffed in amusement, leaning into the hugs and touching. He was cheerful, and nodded when she agreed, though he looked away bashfully when she pulled her dress up. "I go firs.... as to not land on you," he said, "An' ne'er ni... nip....." he stopped quickly, realizing that with an odd 'p' sound replacing the 'b' it was a word unfit to utter in a non-professional setting. He figured she understood though, and moved away, letting out a joyful call as he lumbered forward and leapt, making a full belly flop into the water before he surfaced, the fur on his face plastered down.

"Whater's great!" he announced, paddling around the surface and moving to give her space to jump in comfortable.

"Never what?" The question was teasing, nothing more. The crone was amused by the poor bear's reactions. How could she not be? She quickly shimmied out of the dress, now leaving nothing to anyone's imagination, well, some to the imagination. It was dark after all.

She looked at the water's edge then at the bear before sighing and leaping in. She came up a few moments later, wondering what exactly the polar bear once known as Henry actually liked about the water. It had a strange stagnant feeling. Of being detached from a larger body. She could only guess at it, but it wasn't dead, not exactly.

"You bears are strange creatures." She'd heard a rumor once about Goldilocks and the baby bear...she wasn't going to mention that now.

Hank smiled and swam around her, sneezing as a little bit of water got up his nose.

"E'rything is strange," he said wisely, slipping under the water and twisting a few times. He liked the feeling of weightlessness, and being able to move in three dimensions. He'd have to learn to swim in human form, now that there were places for him to be seen in a swimsuit and no footwear.

He surfaced, then went over to her, staying far enough away so that he wouldn't risk hitting her with paw or the currents of water he was displacing. "You like?"

"It isn't bad. I've had the opportunities to swim in more...interesting places?" Baba started swimming closer, moving round to his side. "Though, I believe I'd rather be out of it. You know, I've never ridden a polar bear. Well, I almost did, but it didn't happen." She sighed wistfully.

"I must admit, this is the first time I've been in a larger body of water in a while. The last time...well, it wasn't that pleasant." She sounded sad, and perhaps a little angry. She had right to such feelings, even if she had been considered the bad guy in the story.

"I'f not tried to carry anyone, though iff you'd like to try...." he tried to swim as slowly as possible. It was a bit upsetting to him that she was feeling bad about the last time she'd swam. If he could make her feel better, he'd certainly want to try.

He would definitely have to ask about the other time she'd almost ridden a polar bear though, that just had to be a fascinating story whether or not it was a were-creature or an actual wild animal.

"Oh, I don't want you to feel like you have to. I don't want you to feel like a beast of burden or anything." Baba very much wanted to ride a polar bear; the thought of it made her a little giddy. Riding animals that weren't usually ridden unless in stories of some sort, even if she herself was a Fable, was something of a high. She grabbed some of his fur, wondering how one mounted a polar bear without flying. She wasn't going to let him in on that particular bit of power. She did have to keep some of herself a mystery after all.

"Though, I've no idea how to get on you." She tried to start climbing up his back. She didn't mean to pull too much on his fur, honest. Certainly not when she slipped, possibly yanking some of the fur a little too hard.

Hank grunted when she yanked hard, impulsively yanking away. Hmm, this would take human intelligence, it would seem.

"Whait," he said, then paddled away a bit before diving down, moving easily under the water and positioning himself under the shadow of her body, coming up at just the right angle so that she'd be able to grab his shoulders as he surfaced.

The crone laughed as he disappeared under the water. It wasn't that she hadn't thought of the idea, but she could exactly tell him to go under her. Or could she. She climbed on as soon as he surfaced near her, her legs and arms wrapping about him until he was high enough for her to just sit up.

"You do realize, this is probably something you should be doing with someone you'd like to be naked around, not someone you're friends with, yes?" She laughed softly, rubbing at his neck and shoulders a little. Baba wasn't completely nude, but with a dip in the water, she might as well have been.

"Ah, I an' not naked," he responded, ears twitching in amusement. "And I'ff not looked at yor person, so I'd not know you are either."

He swam as close to the surface as possible, letting her move around and then enjoying her rubbing his shoulders. He started swimming up the side of the bay, looking around a little bit. Yes, they must be an odd sight, but Hank was letting go of his human concerns and enjoying himself. His bear self.

"So, you became a bear using a cloak?" The crone reached up and playfully tapped his ear before snuggling into his back. He was a rather warm creature. "And, you really shouldn't be so reserved. Let your animal instincts guide you a little more. You miss out when you're overly polite."

She continued to rub at his shoulders and neck as she watched the world slip by, what there was of it to see on the back of a polar bear at the City docks.

"Okay. I should go." She sat up, giving him a pat to the shoulder. "I can't sit in the water this long without pruning."

"No. 'ut now I got fuhr, so not naked," Hank said, almost with an "i told you so" tone, grinning his bear grin. He did feel at more liberty to be silly and open when he was in bear form. Maybe it was because social niceties weren't expected of a wild animal.

As soon as she mentioned getting out he turned, swimming back to where they'd gotten out and heading to a nearby bank, climbing out. It was odd, the more gradual shift from the weightlessness of water to the heavy movement of four legs, but he kept it as careful and smooth as possible, moving over to to clothing and kneeling down to let her off, resisting the urge to shake the water out of his fur.

"Are you safe getting ho'ne?" he asked. If she'd feel better with a bear escort he'd be happy to oblige.

"You are trying to be smart, little Henry." Baba didn't seem angry by his little comment about fur and it negating his nudity. She held on to his shoulders as he climbed out of the water. As soon as she could, she slid off his back and grabbed up her dress. She didn't hurry into the sundress, but did finally put it on. The material stuck to her wet skin, hiding little once more.

"I believe I can find my way home well enough, thank you, Henry." Her hand reached up and softly rubbed the side of his head if he let her, just a sweet little touch, perhaps.
