Abandoned Fruits [Snowed In - Jennifer, Cox, JiJi]
Zoe was ready to shoot someone; anyone would have done, but a certain doctor type would have been pleasant. The Amazon wasn't always of a violent mindset, yet the City was testing her limits. How could it keep her away from those she loved? How could she question how she felt? And how could it snow so gorram much? Sure, they'd seen some crazy weather when the terraforming didn't work properly, but this was ridiculous.

She knew she couldn't fight through the snow for long, especially when she lost track of where she was going and ran into a postal box three times. She was rather certain it was the same one because on the second run in, she'd scored the side with her knife. So what if it was illegal, she needed some sort of marker; it was the only distinction she could see among the blobs of white crystals. On the third time, she stamped her way to the nearest door, or what looked like a door. It was angled oddly, but she supposed if it was to an underground area, it was better than nothing. Maybe there'd be supplies.

She shook off the snow as she walked down the steps and had to shiver at the bleak concrete. There were a few supplies, but none of them filled her with shiny happy thoughts. No, they made her think of some poor store room forgotten by a family, who was busy running from the bombardment. It made her think of the war. The cold didn't help, but she'd survive. Climbing back up the steps, she reached for the door to close out the snow and maybe some of the chill. She didn't want to close anyone out, but she couldn't leave the door open forever.

JiJi had already meandered into the celler, wondering just what he had gotten himself into by ending up in this particular location. It wasn't warm by any means, but at least there wasn't much snow to speak of compared to the outside.

The talk of a warm blanket however peeked his interest; and who was he to turn down and invitation to stay warm? And currently warmth was something he was seeking over food; despite the fact that he hadn't really eaten anything since the day prior to finding himself in this strange place.

There also happened to be a cushy looking bag laid out on the floor, and it was to this JiJi padded quickly over to in order to inspect the potential of a sleeping place to hide away from the cold. It seemed that the one who made the offer of the warm blanket might have also been the one sitting there, basing it off of the scent on the bag.

In all actuality, JiJi really wished Kiki was the one offering to cuddle to keep warm. He was a one witch cat, and he kept a very close bond with his witch. Other humans were strange sometimes, and other times they could be helpful, but they just weren't the same. Now he wasn't dumb enough to turn down the offer if the human insisted, but he would cross that quickly approaching bridge when it came.

Zoe nodded slightly at the rundown, but she went through the cellar's contents anyway. She looked up at the sheet; privacy was all well and good, but it didn't keep anyone warm at night. Plus, the toilet was one source of water - not a pleasant one, and probably not the best - they couldn't exactly boil it. Alcohol wasn't an option yet either.

"A day maybe. Have you had any food? Tried anything?" Zoe stepped closer to Jennifer and started to look at her as best as she could in the limited light. Just looking really. "Have you had anything to drink?"

Perhaps it was a good thing Zoe hadn't seen the cat quite yet. Then again, she didn't know how long they were going to be stuck in the cellar either. It didn't matter. The cat could be a possible food source - dead, or a heat source - alive. But that bridge wasn't even visible yet.

"Did you taste the water?"

"The food in the jars is good. I mean, it's still okay as food. It's all preserved stuff. Nothing fresh, but it won't kill us. The water from that leak is okay. There's nothing living in it. No mold. It tastes a bit like stone floor, but other than that..."

Jennifer shrugged. She had no idea what they'd feed the cat if the cat didn't happen to like dried meat. That might be a little bit of a problem.

"There's a camping thing, but I don't think it's safe to use it inside. Fumes."

While the two women had been talking, Perry had moved over to the corner of the basement, picking up one of the bottles of wine and trying to read the label, which had pretty much faded to white. He frowned, sliding it back into the rack, and picked up one of the tins of food before glancing back over at Jennifer. He caught sight of the cat too then, frowning mildly. He'd never really liked cats much. Jackie had begged and begged until he'd gotten one, and the damn thing had shed all over the house. It was hard to look imposing in front of the new interns when you were covered in the evidence that some adorable little kitten had been snuggling you that morning.

"Well, how long exactly we planning on stayin' here?" Honestly, there was no way any of them would be able to get anywhere out there until the blizzard calmed down, but it was anyone's guess how long that would be.

Of course, he was asking just that, hoping that one of them would have some insight into how long the storm would last. He wasn't sure he or his junk wanted to be down here with the Amazon for long.

Placing the can back on the shelf, he brushed the dust off his fingers. He wasn't exactly feeling overly social and he was still half-freezing to death in his wet clothes, so he moved and sat in the corner, trying to ignore the cold wet denim of his jeans sticking to his legs. His jacket was also wet, but he was too cold right now to think about removing it. Hopefully it would just dry off.

Oh yes, the sleeping bag was perfect for curling up in, and to this JiJi decided to wiggle his way between the layers and curl up. He was being rather oblivious to the fact that someone might sit on him if they weren't careful, but thankfully he was an odd lump within the sleeping bag that might prompt someone to check first.

Yawning widely, the little black cat tucked his head between his paws, tail curling around his form while becoming a furry kittyball. Unlike the humans, JiJi would be fine down in that basement. It may have been cold, but it wasn't nearly as cold as the outside amongst the white background, and curling up was a great way to conserve body heat.

The doctor really wasn't someone Zoe wanted to be stuck down here for long; at least, he wasn't misbehaving. He had helped close the door, and he wasn't saying anything overly rude. Maybe it would be okay, for the first few minutes anyway.

"We stay down here as long as we have to. I doubt we'll be able to get out too easily with snow piling up against that door. Let's get that bag opened up, we'll have to share space. It's all there is to it. Hate to say you need to get out of those wet things..." Zoe wasn't going to finish that sentence; the last thing she wanted to do was get out of wet clothes with this man.

"It'll probably be over soon; snows just don't go like this."

"And into what?" Perry asked, deciding to press on what was obviously a sore point with her. That was what he enjoyed doing; finding people's weak spots and exploiting them for fun. 'Course, there was always a reasoning behind it, but right now he was irritated and didn't particularly care.

Had he been at home or somewhere a little warmer, he wouldn't have hesitated to undress down to his boxer shorts. Perry wasn't exactly ashamed of his body; you wouldn't meet many men in their forties with abs like his. Still, he was using the cold around him as an excuse to stay clothed, as - being a doctor - he knew that undressing and wrapping himself in the blanket would be much, much better for him than staying in the cold, wet clothes.

Still, the fact that it would be over soon was good news at least. He sat for a few minutes shivering before giving up, standing up, and unzipping his jacket. He couldn't sit in the cold in wet clothes any longer.

He stripped off the jacket as fast as he could, pulled off his shirt, and snagged the blanket, not caring whether he unsettled the cat in the sleeping bag or not. He wrapped it around himself and sat back down, the jeans still disgustingly wet against his legs, but at least he could focus on drying his top half.

Jennifer rolled her eyes. She'd met plenty of men like this one in her life. She didn't really want to have to deal with one when she had to deal with so many other things. Like if they were going to freeze to death or not.

"Please tell me you have some experience with dealing with things like this." She said to Zoe. "Because I don't."

It was a sad thing, really. She was an agent. But they'd never been trained in winter survival. Especially where she'd lived. It hadn't been particularly necessary.

She carefully slid her legs into the sleeping bag around the cat, since her blanket had been taken. Though, she supposed even if he was a jerk, he did sort of need it more than she did.
