It could have been done in one book.

I always thought there was an easier way to get the ring to Mordor.

What was the significance of the giant eye shape?

That's Sauron. He's the villain of the epic trilogy The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien. It's his ring that they're trying to destroy throughout the story.

And they didn't just do that? With the giant bird

Nope. After the Council, they assembled the Fellowship of the Ring to take it to Mordor. There were several hitches in the journey, battles, problems that needed to be taken care of, but eventually two of the party managed to make it up the mountain and one of them threw it in. It really is a great story and the movies are pretty good too.

I'm supposed to be doing that back home. Me and Cara. We travel with a Wizard of the First Order and the Seeker. Its not a ring though, its a stone we're looking for. The stone of tears

...oh that is way cool. What does the stone do, if you don't mind me asking?

There is a rift between this world and the underworld, the stone will seal that, prevent the keeper from winning his war against the land of the living

Yikes. So the seal dragged you guys here at a pretty inopportune time then.

It did yes.

I know Richard will keep going and I know he's not without friends. I just wish I was there with him, helping him like I'm supposed to be

That's good though, that there's someone still there to carry on. I feel you on the last part though. I'm supposed to be back in New York City, helping lead a group. But I know they're in capable hands and they have others higher up to look to. As long as there's someone to continue on, good things can still happen.

That would be putting it mildly.

I am a master of understatement. There are a few other words that would describe it well but inopportune seemed the most fitting in a neutral and non-frustrating kind of way.

I sort of feel like all the time I spent sitting through those movies was horribly wasted now. It could have been so much faster.

It would have made it a lot shorter but I think watching the journey was well worth the time. Then again, I love watching journeys unfold and the effect it has on those who take them.

But on that note, you have to wonder if Gandalf wasn't thinking by the last battle: "Why didn't I think of that back during the council?"
