I was so involved in science and learning about the human body that I simply didn't have any interest in what was cool until I was a teenager. I inherited my father's taste in things, I suppose. And depending on how entertaining those stories were I may have asked for them at least until my teen years. Then I would have been too embarrassed for bedtime stories.

No, I'm not. I'm British. I was originally from a small village but when I was brought here I was living in London.

To be fair, I kind of tried cool on for a period and I realized it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. So, my Dad and I set off to wander around space on a wild goose chase.

British - that's pretty much the other side of this planet then?

It sounds like you came to the same conclusion I did. And that could have been interesting, though I imagine it also got frustrating.

Not quite. It's only a few thousand miles away. Australia would probably be considered more on the other side of the world.

Did you end up wandering around space with your Dad too? Cause if so we should maybe start a club.

Got it - I'm slowly figuring out where the continents and stuff all match together.

Sadly no, though my father may have enjoyed it. Space travel isn't something that's readily available in this time and place.

I imagine it can be quite confusing. But I think you'll get it soon enough.

I had kind of noticed that. I think eventually I'll miss it. I've done so much of it recently though, that it's kind of nice to just stay put. Even though it'd be nice to do it someplace I'm more familiar with.

I'm Ben, by the way. Don't know if we've really met.

Well, hopefully when you do begin to miss it you can find something to replace it. And I know the feeling. I'm lucky enough that I'm able to go home if i want to, even if it isn't exactly my home.

I don't believe we have. I'm Molly.

yeah, I've been figuring out driving, and that sort of thing. Looks like you have atmospheric transportation with airplanes, so that might be something to look into when I start getting restless.

Good to meet you, Molly. Glad you're able to go home - or you know, somewhere pretty similar - if you want to.

I just started attempting driving here in the States. It's taking some getting used to. And flying a plane could be quite interesting, I think. When I travelled last time it was via teleportation, which saved so much time.

It's a definite pleasure to make your acquaintance as well. And it is nice. It's definitely a place I would recommend visiting if you ever get the chance.

Teleportation? That seems like it'd be handy. I can't say I've ever done that.

Maybe I will if I'm here long enough. I think the next step is to figure out some sort of employment maybe.

It's fascinating. My boyfriend had wished for the ability when we had the wish baubles. Considering his temprament when annoyed we decided it was a better idea to go that way instead of spending ten hours in airports and on airplanes. If I ever get the chance I want to wish for the same ability.

Employment definitely helps. I think James, the man who runs the Youth Center, had helped one of the younger people we had here with that a while back. Maybe he can help you as well?

Wish bubbles? is that one of those weird things that happens here?

Thanks. That's actually good to know. I have some family here I thought I'd ask, but I'd like a second opinion too. It's hard to know exactly where my skills would match-up.

It is. They come around Christmas and you can wish for almost anything. I think it's supposed to be the Seal's way of making up for us being here.

It's always good to have a second opinion on things like that. When I first got here I tried to go back to my old field but it was too complicated here, and a few people suggested I teach at the university instead. I actually enjoy doing that almost as much as working with law enforcement.

So you teach classes? What classes?

I teach forensic pathology at the local university. It's to help train doctors who want to become forensic pathologists help catch criminals. I did it back home for quite a few years, assisting Scotland Yard, but it was harder to do here so I'm teaching instead.

That sounds like it could be really interesting. I worked for a while the Galactic Alliance Guard, and I know there were some people who did things similar. Do you like teaching?

I do, actually. I didn't think I'd be very good at it, but I seem to be exceeding my department head's expectations. I miss what I used to do, though I'm not quite sure if it was actually doing the autopsies that I miss or the people who I worked with.

That's good. It's cool you've found something that you enjoy doing here. I'm still working on that part although I've got some leads now. I get missing people from home though.

It is a very good thing indeed. I'm sure you'all find something. There are so many opportunities here. And it would be easier if I hadn't lost so many of my friends here as well. It's getting harder to deal with when that happens.

People come and go a lot it seems like? I'm sorry you've lost friends. But maybe there's still the opportunity to make some too. I don't have a lot of people here I know, but I'm getting to know a few more.

They do. When I first got here two of my friends from home were here, but they got sent back last year, as did two of my best friends from here. And then in February I lost the man I loved to the Seal as well. But I'm becoming more open to people, because it doesn't do well to be alone while you're here. And that is definitely a good attitude to have.

I didn't realize -- that's got to be amazingly difficult. I mean, I've watched other people... I know it's not easy. I hope you're able to continue getting past that.
