They believe you're a lying bastard with no loyalties but to HYDRA. Showing you actually care about other people is the only way to prove them wrong ~~if they even are wrong~~

I've never denied that I care. Why do you think Coulson watches us on that stupid show? He doesn't trust me with you any more than he trusts you with me. It's only a weakness if you allow it to be. If you let your feelings put others at risk. You know, kind of how your feelings for Garrett got a bunch of good people killed.

My loyalties were never HYDRA. You know that maye better than most. I was loyal to the one person to treat me as if I could be something. And I know, I was a weapon to him, an asset. But its better than what I had. I owed him.

I'm trying, okay. I am. I haven't done anything here that I regret. Loki, I did what everyone from home should have done.

But don't you see it, why I need you. Maybe you are my weakness but maybe its okay that you are. I wanted so badly to change things, It all just got too much too quick and I hurt you. You know I'd never do that again, right?

They're never going to believe that, Ward. Especially not when you act like Tony disappearing is no big deal.

You hurt me because you lied to me. Over and over from the moment we met you lied to me. I don't want to be anybody's weakness, Ward. Do you even understand how horrible that sounds? If you show them a person who doesn't care, they're just going to see you as a killer willing to destroy anyone the second you're ordered to do it by someone you feel "gratitude" for. Pretending to be that person isn't going to earn you anyone's respect, least of all mine.
