I have a medieval King in my medbay. I'm not sure which part confuses him more, the technology around him, the fact I'm a woman or the fact I'm black.

Wasn't Richard III the evil one? According to Shakespeare anyway.

Well, history is written by whoever like wins, right? And I'd think any plays or songs or whatever kinda reflect that.

There are two sides to every story. Like when someone is trying to kill you then you probably think they're evil incarnate and don't really give a damn about their reasoning aside from the whole wanting you dead. But if you got the story from their POV maybe it'd be different. Maybe your death meant their life or the life of someone they love.

	That is true, history is written by the victors and all that. And morality back then was different anyway. We can't judge someone by 21st century standards. So even if they did do acts that were considered horrific, maybe for them then, they weren't. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Well, once slavery wasn't thought of as an immoral concept, now we rightfully consider it abhorrent. Women were once considered the property of men, now we're more equal, at least in theory. To kill in the name of religion has been considered the right thing to do in several eras in history. Even today, many radical groups believe in it, but the majority of people consider it reprehensible.

Weirdly though, I experienced less racism when I met Shakespeare than when I was around in 1913. Shows how time does change and evolve, backwards and forwards.

	You've experienced it in different places because of time traveling, right? In the blue box with the Doctor? I just find it fascinating. 	That's it. I've jumped around to a few different times, including the end of the entire universe, rather than seeing it all through. You're immortal now, I am actually jealous. 	I wonder if the end of your universe is the same for all of us. This reality thing is trippy. I wasn't sure about it at first and it still freaks me out sometimes, but I'm interested in seeing what happens. I'd rather see what I am as a gift than a curse. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
