no evil and no House
Um, help? I'm being creeped on by an old guy who's stalking me all over the internet now. I told him to leave me alone but it's just getting freaky and stupid. Does this thing have a block option? I can't find one.

According to the Kansas Attorney General it is. It's become a bigger concern in the last few years, especially with teenagers.

Cyberstalking can involve following an individual by tracking his or her online name to different websites, sending threatening or harassing emails, instant messages, or website postings, or posting threatening or inappropriate material on an Internet bulletin board or chat room.

And I agree that should be what she does, but if his behavior continues then it becomes even more serious.

She said the bloke filtered to her, but did he threaten or say anything inappropriate? Has she said? I mean, granted, the bloke seems to be an annoying arse, but there's a difference between filtering and being a pratt and being threatening or inappropriate. One is to get a rise the others lead to more bad things.

Well, I'd say she should try that before anything else, though. If she ignores him and stops talking about him what's there for him to keep picking at? Nothing, he'll get bored presumably. And then if he bugs her someone hex him or beat the bloke with his own cane.

It's a fine line really and could go either way depending on what's been said. But if she's feeling threatened enough to post asking for help then its not something I'm going to brush aside. Doesn't mean I'm going to go throwing punches at him either, but not taking it seriously is basically telling her that she's on her own and tough shit if she feels she's being picked on or threatened.

I don't think telling her to ignore him is telling her she's on her own and tough shit. She asked for help, but it seemed she meant for advice. Which was exactly what I did. She's far from on her own, I'd say, she's got quite a few people that've responded to this, including me, I'd like to point out. Difference between giving advice on a situation and brushing it off completely.

I didn't say you were. If it came across that way then I apologize because that isn't how I meant it.

It did, but if that's not you meant sorry for getting so defensive. I just think the prat's the type with a small attention span. If she doesn't give him the attention he wants there's nothing for him to stay interested in. She's better off brushing it off and moving on and then if he doesn't let her alone letting someone take care of it for her.

Nah, it's fine. Things can get skewed on the internet. But I do agree with that. If she's not a fun target then he'll find someone else to poke at.

He's looking for entertainment. What I read on google the guy is just an arse and has awful people skills. Even if he's a doctor and smart-ish.

That's definitely an accurate description of the guy.

He's still trying to talk to me, but I'm not saying anything back this time.

I'm in [Room #] if you need anything. Doesn't matter what hour of the night it is either.
