For someone who is not a mother to be called one so lightly is more than insulting to those of us who are actually mothers. I especially take more offense to it because I lost Christina. Yes I have Emily now and I consider her my daughter, but there is a difference between being called mother because you have raised a child for the whole of their life and being called mother because you looked after a child for a short period of time when the Seal was having its fun. Even if the name is meant in a playful manner, it is still greatly insulting.

Perhaps I am letting this bother me too much, but anything regarding mothers or children will always strike a nerve with me. No matter how long I will have Emily, that does not change the fact I lost Christina, and it takes far more than a two week babysitting job to be considered a mother.

I do apologize for this, but it irritates me. And I figured expressing such things was better than simply keeping them to myself and letting them fester inside me.

Yes, expressing it is probably the most healthy reaction. And you already know my feelings on the matter. I try to ignore it but it also is a constant reminder to me of a time I really would rather forget so I doubt I will ever be able to be completely impartial on the cause.

It is unfair to you that it is a constant reminder of something you'd rather forget. I understand why you cannot be impartial on the matter because of what you experienced. I do not begrudge you for feeling that way, either.

Perhaps it is unfair, but it is not as if saying anything will matter. They found something they clearly needed while I lost everything I need. Nor is it like anyone actually knows what happened, just that I was there. Nor am I one to tell people to censor their own thoughts or happiness just because it upsets me. I just try to ignore it.

That is true, it is not their fault they had something good happen when you had something horrible happen. At least you do try to ignore it, but sometimes that is also the issue. Ignoring sometimes defeats the purpose of the intent and only serves to remind us more of why we must avoid certain things to keep us from losing our minds.

No, it is not, and it is unfair to begrudge them that just because of the things it reminds me of. If that was what they needed, so be it. I did not need any of what I went through but it happened and nothing will change that and there is nothing to learn there that I did not already know. I may not ever understand how these instant bonds occur, but if I have given up trying on that as it is.

It is unfair, but the fact remains that you carry things that you do not deserve and that only serves as a reminder of that particular period in time. It is perhaps for the best that you do not try to understand how instant bonds occur. Some people will always baffle us regardless of circumstance simply because we are the way we are.

What person deserves to be ra The girls certainly did not dese It was human cruelty as No one deserves what happened during that time. So yes, it is a more obvious reminder but that does not mean I have ever forgotten what happened regardless.

Yes, this is true and trying to make sense of it will only lead to more confusion.

Not it doesn't mean you have forgotten, and unfortunately the memories will always be with you. I just hope that with time, the wounds that they struck will heal so it is not such a difficult thing to carry with you.

Precisely.

Well, better this way than actually saying something to them and creating drama?

I agree, it is good that you aren't just holding this in if you feel strongly about it. At least it's not about all adop But if it's what they feel, I doubt they're trying to be insulting.

I don't think they're trying to be insulting, it just seems to discredit what a mother does on a daily basis for her children. Or I am just overly sensitive to it because it is a sensitive topic for me.

Well, yes, I can see why it would seem that way and maybe it is being over sensitive but maybe it's not. I really can't say.

I must have missed the relevant post, but I'm sorry it bothered you.

Seems like everyone has their own opinions about what makes someone this or that, and there are always clashes.

So, who should I go kick? I got a new NERF bat that hasn't been tested out yet.

Depending on the exact offense/person committing said offense, I may or may not want to watch the Pete-Nerfbat-beatdown, here...

It was a couple posts down from this one, mentioned in comments.

But do not trouble yourself, no one needs to be kicked or anything of the sort, I assure you. I am just sensitive to the topic.

Uhmmm, what did I miss? My mama-type is upset, so clearly, I need to yell sarcastic Claudiaisms at someone...

Also? Kudos and props for talking to us about it, H.G.! Progress of the progressive variety is good!

There is no need for such action. I do not wish to make a large scene out of this, I merely wished to express my feelings on the matter I observed.

It most certainly is. It seems that I am capable of learning and changing, even at my age.

I'm not exactly sure what the outfit has to do with anything, but if you wore anything drastically different from what you normally wear, I would think you were either possessed, ill or being affected by an artifact.
