Mom, he basically changed your coffee into herbal tea and then your body remembered that it was insanely tired and went to sleep. Your letter reads like those "watch out for roofies" videos we had to watch in health.

That's totes beside the point. I wasn't sleepy.

So it seems that this is not just a Dmitri trick

My brother was fond of doing that to me when he felt I needed to sleep. And passed it along to my husband It can be very upsetting, even if you know that the intent is because they are worried.

This! See, you totes get it. I mean, yeah it's a little sweet 'cause I know he cares, but I didn't want to sleep.

Clearly sleep is a necessity, but forced sleep is rarely helpful. Especially if it makes you doubt someone for fear they will pull it again. Yes, it is sweet because it shows caring, but I find that I usually would try to spite my brother after the fact.

While you do not wish to sleep, you should try to find a way to before it goes on for too long, though. I have been there more than once and I know that it does not help in the long run. Even if I am not sleeping from stress at the moment. I really hope Anatoly does not see this and try it again

It wasn't totes helpful. I don't want to spite him or anything like that at the moment. Maybe if he did it a lot, but I don't think he will.

Yeah.

[Svetlana]

I know it's totes rude to ask, but....whatever you weren't sleeping from...how'd you forget it or move on or whatevs?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]thegirlisme
2012-03-03 06:35 am UTC (link)
And you should not. Mind you, I was a teen when he would so spiting seemed appropriate as it was common. A one time thing should not be too troublesome.

[Darcy]

It is fine. It depends on the situation, truthfully. I tend to not sleep when I am highly stressed or when something has happened. Which has been lately. But whenever I finally find myself able to sleep, it is because I have let someone help. Be it someone to speak to about what is upsetting me, or just being there and realizing that I am safe.

True, when it is your mind that is troubling you, the feeling of safety is harder to achieve, but if you can find a way to release it in some way, that may help. When I was younger, my brother would play chess with me, and my husband now will do that. Or just knowing he is there and willing to listen if I feel ready to talk.

That shouldn't be funny but it's a little bit.

[Svetlana]

I don't want to worry anyone Do the people you let help usually worry?

Release it in some way.... That's all good stuff. Thanks.

[info]thegirlisme

Well, it is in hindsight I suppose.

[Darcy]

Yes, but that is because they care about you and will worry no matter what. Usually though, they worry more when you do not seek help because if they know you well enough, they will know that you are not as okay as you claim to be and so they worry and want to help. If you wish for a more neutral person though, I do not mind listening and seeing if I cannot offer any insight or help somehow.

Of course. I know how difficult it is to be in this situation.
