And I very clearly remember my past. Eight years old. Crime Alley in Gotham City. Just after midnight. My parents were shot in front of my eyes and it led to me becoming Batman. So yes, you could say I had a horrible past but it made me the man I am today. And no other child is going to lose their parents in a mugging gone wrong if I can help it.

...You'd make an excellent crime fighter by the way.

He's off sulking because my mom turned him down and he got into a pissy fit with everyone on Valentine's Day when he thought it a great idea to punch my dad for not rising to a fight. And then uses his past to excuse his behavior like it's a free pass.

See, that's fine. Yes, our past defines us. But you don't have to hold onto it and refuse to have fun because of what happened when you were eight. My sister and I died. I was seven, she was five. We came back and yeah, we had issues adjusting but we did. We moved on. I'm sorry you saw that, no one should be subjected to that, but if you're going to use that as your excuse for refusing to enjoy yourself once in a while? Then yeah, that's just sad. There's more to life than fighting evil and wanting to protect other children from suffering as you did.

Thanks? Though I'm pretty certain my parents would have a heart attack if I did that.

I made a decision a long time ago to fight evil. To try and save my city. But yes, contrary to what Dick says, I do do more than just fight crime. My company's helped eased the suffering of numerous people all over the world along with numerous other philanthropic gestures. Okay, probably not the fun you're telling me to do. But it gives me something to work on here possibly.
