It looks like there were no objections to me expanding the medical facilities here so I'll be outlining a plan and costs over the next few days and then reporting it back here. In the meantime don't forget about physicals and vaccinations, as well as your annual dental and eye exams. I don't have you on a schedule if you've never been to visit me so you'll have to remember to be the one to contact me. Though none of us like to think about it, if you ever do have a medical emergency I'll be able to treat you more effectively if I have a medical for you. And, yes, Mal, I am being official. How charming of you to comment
...it became such a habit to assume the captain would mock me that I'd almost forgotten
Michael
If you and your brother are set up I'd like you to start on Monday. I'll be at the clinic or hospital for the morning, but I'll leave you instructions for the cleaning/paperwork, and when I get back I might ask you to research prices on some equipment we'll be needing for the renovations. I care that the work is done, not about your hours. I assume your brother will need a break from being cooped up in an office while he's with you all day for the time that remains until school starts for him. When my sister was that age no room stood a chance against her when she felt cooped up, and I rather like my office in a state as far from demolition as possible.

Michael Barrett is going to be joining us in the infirmary in a paid, administrative position. I'd appreciate it if you could do whatever it is you do with the smiling and/or other facial expressions that enables you to be direct and get people to listen rather than wanting to punch you. I don't generally have much patience with teenagers. It seems wisest to have a buffer. Also, he apparently plans on dropping out of school. As much as every child dreams of growing up to employ high school dropouts under the table so that they can support their family you might want to attempt to be convincing about that as well if you have time.
