WHO: Caroline and Klaus
WHAT: annoyance led to walking out and following after
WHEN: Today. Right after Care told Klaus she was going out.
WHERE: Rome
WARNINGS: TBD
There were a lot of reasons for her anger, and truly, the conversation she’d had with Klaus and read him having with Rebekah was only the tip of the iceberg. Instead of yelling at him, of saying something she was pretty sure she would regret not long after saying it, she’d decided to get out, to just go for a walk and put some distance between them. Maybe it wasn’t her best idea considering she didn’t know the city and also because Klaus wasn’t exactly the best at deciphering others feelings and was no doubt confused as to why she had left. A small part of Caroline felt bad about that, but she was too annoyed to truly care much about his own precarious emotions. Instead she was trying to get a handle on her own because when she didn’t have control of her emotions or when she let them run away from her bad things tended to happen. Out of control bitey things and she didn’t want to do that.
So she walked, not really caring where she was headed, and unfortunately not taking in the sights either. Which she’d kick herself for later considering all she was passing by as she wandered. Eventually she ended up at the Colosseum, easily compelling her way inside--which earlier in the year would have given her pause but now seemed second nature to do. And that was part of the problem, wasn’t it?
She walked past the Gladiators that seemed to always be around, posing for photo ops, and sat down next to some other tourists on one of the stone slabs everyone seemed to be using for seating.
Caroline looked out at the other tourists roaming around, watching them take photographs, pointing out different parts of the walls. Families, couples, groups of friends and colleagues all enjoying the December day and her gaze traveled with one couple in particular. Their hair colors reminding her of Rebekah and Stefan and so she watched them walk hand in hand, looking like a young couple in love, and wasn’t this how her two friends should be right then? Enjoying their rather impulsive decision, but still enjoying their time together.
But nooooo. That just wasn’t allowed.
Caroline glared at nothing in particular, trying not to scowl as she leaned back against the stone slab, renewing her effort to curb her annoyance. She felt like she was being watched though and that really wasn’t helping her effort at control. Even if she had a pretty good idea who was watching her so intently.
